Southampton Disembark

Does anyone have any idea how long it takes to disembark Independence at Southampton? Just that we have booked flights for 2:30 pm in the afternoon thinking that allows us plenty time considering she is due in at 5:30 am. Willing to carry luggage off ourselves if allowed.

You should get a 2:30 flight no problem, especially if its a Saturday (normal turnround day for the Indy). If you do walk off, there are normally no customs or immigration to do (even for 'foreigners'!) so you should be more or less straight through the baggage hall. There are plenty of available car services (search for west quay cars, smiths for airports both recommended by CCer's) for about £140. If you want a cheaper option, National Express coaches run from Southampton Coach station (about 15 min walk from City Cruise terminal were you will dock or 2 minute/£7 cab ride). Coach takes about 2 hrs to LHR (where I assume you will fly from) for around £15. http://www.nationalexpress.com/home.aspx

Any more queries, we all hang out on the Britain Ports of Call board! http://boards.cruisecritic.com/forumdisplay.php?f=233

hI Carole I recognise the name from our roll call ..lol. You'll have no problem getting to the airport for that time . they usually start to disembark about 6.30 /7 am , you'll get a form about what time you want to leave when you get onboard usually a few days before the nd of cruise . We've never been off later than 8am it's only about half an hour to Southampton airport depending on traffic

I've just looked on an old departure form and the ship gave transfers to Heathrow and Southampton airport so might be worth enquiringly about that , will be more expensive of course.

Hi Jen

Thanks for the reply, that's certainly eased our concerns as it would prove costly if we were to miss our flights. As long as the weather is ok and no hold ups we should have plenty of time.

Thanks again.

Hi Simon, thanks for the reply and the info. Ship docks on the Sunday and we fly from Southampton so hopefully transfer times will be minimal. Jennywren46says about half an hour to airport and off ship by mid morning at latest hopefully. Thanks for the offer to address queries to the Britain Ports of Call Board.
