juniperia Posted February 1, 2016 #1 Share Posted February 1, 2016 Hi all, My son, 2.5 years, still drinks whole milk (3.25% - we call it "homo" in Canada). He drinks it 3 times a day (morning, afternoon, bedtime). Do you know if they have this type of milk available on NCL Getaway? Also, anyone know if they have drinkable yogurt (like Iogo Nano) onboard? Thank you!
Kerry's Girls Posted February 1, 2016 #2 Share Posted February 1, 2016 Sorry I don't know, but thought I'd mention that when we weren't able to find whole milk on cruises when my girls were still drinking it, our pediatrician suggested two things: a) they're perfectly fine drinking reduced fat milk for a week or two and b) if they noticed the difference and wouldn't drink reduced fat, just add a little cream/half & half. (They didn't notice the difference). Best, Mia

juniperia Posted February 1, 2016 Author #4 Share Posted February 1, 2016 Thank you for your replies! I'm perfectly fine with him drinking 2%, as long as he drinks it! He's pretty picky about his food/drink, so that will be the challenge. Maybe we'll just load him up with ice cream or shakes ;) I guess we'll just deal with it as I can't imagine taking a week's worth of packaged milk in our suitcases. cruiseelady Posted February 1, 2016 #5 Share Posted February 1, 2016 I like 2% milk and they didn't have it on Breakaway in November 2015. They only had whole milk and fat free milk, so no worries about that.
travelhound Posted February 2, 2016 #6 Share Posted February 2, 2016 You will certainly find it in the morning, but it probably isn't easily available at lunch. You could get it in the dining room at dinner but not at the buffet. When our dd was drinking it all of the time we got it at breakfast and brought back a few cartons to the room fridge. Otherwise it can be harder to find later on.
cb at sea Posted February 2, 2016 #7 Share Posted February 2, 2016 (edited) Yes..whole milk is there...pick up a couple pints for later, if you want. 2% won't hurt your child for a week...I swear! The protein is the same...just the fat content is different. It's all good. Edited February 2, 2016 by cb at sea
dsrdsrdsr Posted February 2, 2016 #8 Share Posted February 2, 2016 3.25% - "Whole" milk! Lack of Jersey cows in Canada, methinks.

I don't drink milk, so not sure if this is a big taste difference.

That's an enormous difference in taste. I milk a Jersey cow twice a day.:)
