I would use www.tripadvisor.com to check hotels out in the areas that I am interested in.

 

there is also a forum located here on Hotels to use beofre/after a cruise.

go down to the very bottom of the page here. there will be a pop up menu that you can access and scroll down to the heading "Cruise Discussion topics" and you'll see "ask a cruise question" and other subheadings. One will be the pre and post hotel forum. That will be where you'll find the info. If you see the roll calls listed, you went too far down.

As many people have stated go to the Hotel pre-post forum. There is a wealth of info there. Do a search for your L.A. hotels. Alot of information comes up.
