Renting a car, where should we go?

On our last visit we did ATV's mostly off-roading in some rough terrain and back roads. We were kind of dusty and dirty so we headed straight back to the ship afterwards and didn't get to look around the port or shop or anything. We are renting a car this time. We aren't sure where to go or what to see. Any suggestions?

Take the road north out of Oranjestad and drive along the water north of Palm Beach up towards Arashi Beach and the California lighthouse beyond.

OR

Venture further on the dirt trails to the Burshiribana Gold Mills Ruins and Alto Vista Chapel. From the chapel head back in land and make your way south to the Ayo Rock Formations and then Arikok National Park

OR

skip the National Park and head south of Oranjestad and again take the coastal road to Mangel Halto then head back to the highway and continue south through San Nicolas to Rodgers and Baby Beaches.

How does that work to rent a car in a port? Do you arrange it with a travel agent?

We used speed car rental in Aruba. We just googled it and since it was right at the port, we went ahead and booked it through the Internet.

If you're 50 or older, go to AARP travel (expedia is the rental car partner). Crazy good prices!! Pick up & drop off right on the pier.

Really? I'm not old enough yet but my husband is. I'll check it out. I'm not sure we can beat our price though. We got a Toyaota Corolla for the day for $58 final price with taxes. And they pick us up and drop us off right at the port. :)

We've been to Aruba before and are familiar with the main sightseeing attractions. We won't be driving blindly, it's a small island and it would be hard to get lost. We just wanted some ideas on a nice scenic drive and where to go to check out some local hangouts that aren't so touristy this time. We've done this in other islands before and really enjoyed being away from the crowds and doing our own thing.
