AFTerHour Posted February 14, 2016 #1 Share Posted February 14, 2016 Bringing my laptop on the BREAKAWAY but I have heard that Security blocks are on the TV's. I want to hook up the lap top to the HDMI port. Does anyone have experience on this?

Moby0215 Posted February 14, 2016 #3 Share Posted February 14, 2016 I don't believe you can plug anything into the tv unless you are in a suite. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
zqvol Posted February 14, 2016 #4 Share Posted February 14, 2016 The TVs do not have any ports that you can access, you are going to have to watch your DVDs on your laptop.

Rare mking8288 Posted February 15, 2016 #6 Share Posted February 15, 2016 (edited) Unless things changed & new "locks" are placed on HDMI port #1 on BA's HDTV, yes - it can be done. Did this before & I documented it in my March 2015 review - we've in a regular balcony, same arrangements should work in OV or even Insides. Here's my Sony Viao laptop (w. MP4's preloaded), Big Blue BT speaker (for better sound) and power strip, along with assorted cables for one's hookup and a 6' HDMI, https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/64025118/2015%20NCL%20BA/IMG20150322_2143%20%281024x768%29.jpg HDTV signal is fed into HDMI port #1 - you need to disconnect it when using your own signal and please, please check & reconnect for other guests sailing after you. No, you cannot use HDMI 2 or HDMI 3 or Component inputs, etc. - that's firmware locked - leave that Harmony universal remote at home. https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/64025118/2015%20NCL%20BA/IMG20150322_2245%20%281024x768%29.jpg Here's Windows 8 OS casted via HDMI to the wall-mounted HDTV - make sure you secure all the cables & wires neatly together, as you don't want to spill any liquid over your custom setup. https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/64025118/2015%20NCL%20BA/IMG20150322_2327%20%281024x768%29.jpg Playing back MP4 using one's own favorite media player. https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/64025118/2015%20NCL%20BA/IMG20150322_2345%20%281024x768%29.jpg P.S. a small LED flashlight is handy while making the tight connection behind the TV's panel with limited space to maneuver the plug/connector in place. This setup isn't for the average CC member with limted technical skills with busy port days - I only set mine up on full sea days when we planned to spend time relaxing in our own "private" space & not in other public areas, etc. Disclaimers - if these "security blocks" are in place, then these info & instructions/tips are no longer valid & I stand corrected. As always - YMMV & good luck with your efforts, please come back & share or report your findings. Edited February 15, 2016 by mking8288
