Ginjoli Posted February 21, 2016 #1 Share Posted February 21, 2016 We are doing the Iberia and Canaries cruise on Oriana in June. Apart from Lisbon, we haven't visited any of the ports of call before. Would be grateful for any advice on recommended Shore Excursions - Itinerary as follows:- La Palma La Gomera Fuerteventura Madeira Lisbon Do P&O offer an excursion from Puerto del Rosario on Fuerteventura to Corralejo? - if I remember from our 2015 cruise, the full programme of excursions are not available until 12 weeks prior to sailing, when we pay our final balance. Many thanks in anticipation!

Ginb56 Posted February 21, 2016 #3 Share Posted February 21, 2016 Hi. We're on Oriana to Iberia on 10 June too and been looking at excursions. Has anyone done the Green Venice water tour from La Rochelle? It sounds intriguing. We wonder about doing our own thing at St Peter Port, Bilabo and La Coruna though - unless anyone particularly enjoyed a planned excursion? Any ideas very welcome thanks! Our 2nd cruise so still feeling our feet a bit when planning ahead.
jeanlyon Posted February 21, 2016 #4 Share Posted February 21, 2016 We always like to do our own thing rather than with 50 others on a bus, so usually trawl the internet for ideas. there are good bus services in the Canaries. the english lady Posted February 21, 2016 #5 Share Posted February 21, 2016 We are doing a Canaries cruise as well. Not the same one. OH likes going off plan. At one of the stops he has found a motor cycle and side car tour!!!! Someone else does the driving. He hasn't booked anything yet, as it's quite a while before we go. However I would like to do it. I can't remember which island it was on though...helpful aren't I ...not.
jeanlyon Posted February 21, 2016 #6 Share Posted February 21, 2016 Was it this one in Madeira? http://www.madeirasidecartours.com/
the english lady Posted February 21, 2016 #7 Share Posted February 21, 2016 Was it this one in Madeira? http://www.madeirasidecartours.com/ Yes that's the one!! Jeanlyon. So not even the Canaries, but Madeira. I would still like to do it as it looks fun. Last cruise we did a tuk tuk tour, that was lit up like a Christmas tree as it was December. A couple of years before that we did a sort of tricycle. We sat in the back, and another poor soul did the cycling (with electric to help when required) All good fun. LondonTowner Posted February 21, 2016 #8 Share Posted February 21, 2016 Ginjoli All those ports are easy to arrange something yourself. In Lisbon it is very easy to get around on public transport, or taxis are reasonably cheap. In Madeira we booked a tour with Madeira Happy Tours. Excellent service as there was just the two of us in a Mercedes car. La Gomera and Fuerteventura I would rent a car with CICAR and visit whatever interested me. When we went to La Palma we were going to negotiate a taxi at the port, but it was raining so hard we didn't bother.
sddsddean Posted February 21, 2016 #9 Share Posted February 21, 2016 For Lisbon, I can highly recommend http://www.lisbonsegwaytours.pt/ . We did the 3 hour tour on Boxing Day just gone and it is definately the way to see the city, what with all the the steep hills. Their 'shop' is a 10 minute walk from the St Apolonia cruise terminal. jeanlyon Posted February 22, 2016 #10 Share Posted February 22, 2016 Also very easy to take an old tram in Lisbon and go up to see the castle. We had a lovely day just doing our own thing.
Ginjoli Posted March 4, 2016 Author #11 Share Posted March 4, 2016 Many thanks everyone for your advice and suggestions. As we have nearly £500 onboard credit, I shall look at full programme of P&O shore excursions when they become available, but wait to book when onboard, ahead of the shore presentation so hopefully our preferred excursions will still have availability. Final balance due middle of March, so not long to go now.
