Love my butler Posted February 25, 2016 #1 Share Posted February 25, 2016 Beginning March 1st, Carnival is offering an enhanced beverage package. $50/day and includes any drink up to $50 each! Also includes specialty coffees, teas, waters etc. Hopefully NCL will feel the heat and enhance their package also. NCL was already behind most others and with this new Carnival package it is eating dust.

Its about time they stepped up there game. So do they still have that lame 15 drink max on there package?

Is Carnival going to suddenly start stocking super high end wines and liquors or is that more marketing on their end?

bruadhin Posted February 25, 2016 #9 Share Posted February 25, 2016 Maybe limited to one a day:eek::eek::D All 15 drinks can be up to $50 per serving I'm sure. Problem is, what do they care that is remotely that much? I doubt there is anything currently over $20 per serving, and I doubt there is much of that. Perhaps a few scotchs and maybe some wine by the glass gets near that. Assuming you could find some Johnny Walker Blue at one of the bars, you could definitely get your money's worth in one day. beerman2 Posted February 25, 2016 #10 Share Posted February 25, 2016 It's really not as difficult as people make it to be to get to your monies worth. 2 Baily's with coffee. 2 Bloody Mary's or Screwdrivers In the morning 4 drinks/beers in the afternoon ( noon-5) 2 martini' s before dinner 1or 2 drinks at dinner 2 drinks at a show or Howl at the moon 2 or 3 late night 16-17 during course of day day from 7 am-11 pm That's 15 hours so slightly more than 1 per hour. Very doable!
Rare sid_9169 Posted February 25, 2016 #11 Share Posted February 25, 2016 From my experience, Carnival doesn't carry anything near approaching $50 per drink, but I would be willing to scour every bar to partake of whatever they have to offer. Usually, on Carnival, I drank Patron Silver because it fell right below their $10 limit...
ryanpatricksmom Posted February 25, 2016 #12 Share Posted February 25, 2016 It's true they have very few options that even exceed the $10 maximum that was in place to begin with. The big winner is that they've added unlimited specialty coffees, energy drinks and bottled waters. The problem that I've always had with the program is not the 15 per day drink limit, because honestly I wouldn't exceed that anyway, but they don't allow floaters or doubles, and it's even difficult to get some bartenders to pour a single shot in a large glass because they're afraid of getting in trouble. We'll probably use it on our next cruise even though I keep saying never again, but I will definitely wait and see what transpires over the next couple of months before I decide. kelkel2 Posted February 25, 2016 #15 Share Posted February 25, 2016 We just cruised Carnival in January. I just read that announcement and it still wouldn't make me buy their beverage package. Yes, they still have the limitation of 15 drinks a day, and how others have said 15 does not go as far as you think. In fact, now that it includes water, coffee and energy drinks, those 15 will go much faster than before. I as others, like to try new drinks when on vacation. I may get up and have a mimosa with a nice breakfast, a few by the pool, a few after or with lunch, or maybe before dinner drinks. Add my morning speciality coffee and an energy drink in the afternoon to that? My 15 max will be met before we get out of dinner... It's nice that they are offering the other drinks, but then they also need to take away the cap on the program. Also what the heck is with this $50 drink thing? Nothing on carnival I have ever seen is going to cost me $50. I couldn't even find a decent bourbon one night...

js Posted February 25, 2016 #17 Share Posted February 25, 2016 I just got off the CCL Breeze and had the drink package. I also get the drink package on NCL and RCCL. I loved Royals since they actually have a dedicated coffee place that serves specialty coffee. Not sure if I saw this on the Breeze since I just stuck to drinking my iced coffees in the morning but if there is not a dedicated coffee place, it really does no extra good I guess. So unless you are adding alcohol to your coffee or energy drink, it should last longer if you are replacing an alcoholic drink with a non-alcoholic drink. Reading their T&C, it really seems that Carnival is afraid of people getting too drunk and thus the limit, not as a monetary concern.
Maimou Posted February 25, 2016 #19 Share Posted February 25, 2016 (edited) I looked at this because it sure beats NCL. The $50 is per day, with a max of 15 drinks per 24 hours, and a max of $10 per drink. Don't know how $50 per serving got all up in here. I would switch to Carnival for the flexibility of this package. Oh and the 15 drinks/24 hours is for alcohol only. Water, etc does not count against your limit of 15 as you merely get a discount on the water, bottles of wine/champagne . Coffee not included. I too thought the $50 per serving was a misprint, it is not. It is directly on Carnival's site. The old limit was $10 per drink, it has been blown away. Not that I think it will matter, there is little on board that exceeds the $10 per drink. It is $49.95 per day if bought in advance, $54.95 if bought on ship. meggybear17 Posted February 25, 2016 #21 Share Posted February 25, 2016 Ncl's package would be much improved if they added just specialty coffees and bottled water. We had a beverage pack on celebrity and it was so nice to have an espresso in the morning or an irish coffee at night and we could get huge bottles of water to keep in our room or to take on shore excursions with us. And they had several levels of beverage packages to pick from. FYI on ncl if you have one of the drink cards from casinos at sea you can apparently get red bull and bottled water in the casino bar. Havent tried it yet myself but thats what i have been told.
TheDougOut Posted February 25, 2016 #22 Share Posted February 25, 2016 If you look closely at the Terms and Conditions, they require you to cruise on a Carnival ship. I'm out.
LrgPizza Posted February 25, 2016 #23 Share Posted February 25, 2016 I don't drink specialty (or any) coffee, and I couldn't care less about bottled water, so my 15 drinks would all be alcohol. That still would only get me to about mid-afternoon. Not a good package.
