Smoke free night in casino?

If Carnival has a separate ROOM for Non-Smokers, they would soon be complaining that the Smoking Room has better machines, more JP hits and Lord knows what than the Non Smoking Room.

Just like when it was posted very early on about the casino becoming the smoke haven when the right to smoke on your balcony was taken away. People didn't care so much about a smokey casino then, they just wanted a smoke-free balcony. Now that they have it, time to find something else to complain about.

I just really wished that Carnival would have made some of the Aft balconys smoking and at least given us an option instead of the boot:eek:.

Maybe HAL will be better suited for me.

I could go on and on and on.......my 2 cents from a smoker.

Spoken like a true chain smoker. Stand your ground. All medical studies can't be true.

Excessive exposure to second hand smoke can be dangerous and non-smokers should be conscious of limiting their exposure. But a couple of nights per year exposing oneself isn't necessarily going to be totally harmful to a person. If someone has a concern it is their choice to avoid areas they may seem as harmful. We do have free choice, don't we?

At the present time Carnival allows smoking in the casino...and the non-smoker knows that going in. Sure it may put a damper on some activities but we can't all have everything to our liking on every cruise.

By the way, I don't think attacking smokers for their personal choices is a good way of being pro-active. If smoking is a major concern then the best bet is to contact Carnival directly and voice those concerns. If enough people do so then things might change...but attacking a smoker doesn't seem to be a smart way of getting an opinion across. Just my 2 cents.

I sailed the Glory Journeys cruises B2B recently and they were experimenting with smoke eating machines in the casino.

I was amazed at how well they cleaned the air and made several comments to different casino staff about their effectiveness.

I hope they expand the use of these air cleaners as they seemed to be a great compromise to a serious issue.

Do you really believe that someone that smokes doesn't know that it is bad for them? Really?

And where did they say it wasn't harmful?

I have never smoked and in fact don't even know any smokers however non smokers do tend to get a little crazy. The cruise lines try to accommodate everyone by limiting the places you can smoke to a very small percentage of the ship yet people still complain.

Maybe I don't want to cruise with the people that feel the need to drink their weight in alcohol every day, which is horribly bad for you as well yet no one seems to care. Unfortunately I don't get to chose and when you go out in public you have to deal with all types not just the ones you find acceptable.

I was a smoker and a smokeless tobacco user for many years. After constant reminders from my family and Dr. I decided it was not the best thing for me and I quit cold turkey. I don't have any issue with people who smoke because it's their own personal choice. I however have the right to not want to be around it anymore.

My wife and I used to love going to the casino on our cruises. We would spend several hours a day seeing what lady luck had in mind for us that day. Since the crackdown on smoking around the ship has gone into place, the smoke in the casino is so thick we cannot handle it anymore. For our last few cruises we have not spent any time (or money) in the casino because of that. Now I don't know if the answer is banning smoking but perhaps putting in some much better air cleaning machines would help. All I know is that we will not be spending any time in the casino until the air conditions get better.

Thanks for input of opinions from the trolls without medical degrees ;)

They cut off her cheers package and I had to buy her wine the rest of the cruise. No way to treat a customer.

HAHA oh what I want to say but will refrain from. Meanwhile health women have miscarriages and your partner is drinking and smoking. A glass of wine a week is okay during pregnancy. Some will even say one a day. But enough for a cheers package. You are clearly misinformed. It doesn't take a medical degree to know what is wrong.

Why does every question become a polarized name calling argument? There seems to be a fundamental lack of understanding and respect for differing opinions on this site.

I had no intention to bash anyone with my question. Please don't hijack by turning this into a brawl.

Enjoy your cruise everyone.

I was on the Glory a few years ago and they decided to have a smoke free night in the casino. It last about two hours. The casino was empty and when they announced that you could smoke, it filled right up.

I can tell you it works on Princess. Different demographic on different lines brings different daily habits.

I think they should use these new Smoke Eaters in all the casinos and I smoke 🙈.......Also I read a review recently from someone just off the Conquest who stated they were putting in a new air ventilation system......Also I notice lots of Asians wearing those little white hospital type filter masks......I spoke with a friend who wears one and she stated most wear them because they've read or heard about Noro virus or other sicknesses on cruises so they wear them to help prevent getting anything But also lots wear them in the casinos to not breathe in the smoke as bad....😷

We're weird Ex smokers in a sense who still smoke but only when We're drinking and gambling but when we were on Princess and they had Non smoking night on Elegant night it was never a problem for us or fellow smokers to just go in the cigar room which was close by and catch a smoke or go out on the deck

Carnival should try it......I don't think any fellow smokers would be mad about 1 night no smoking

No he's not. I agree to give up a night. But that would open a new can of worms, they'll want more despite a Carnival revenue loss.[/QUO

Exactly-we give up one night and then the next cruise its 2 and so on. We already gave up smoking on the balcony and other areas. Sorry, I would be mad.

I understand the plight of non smokers who prefer to not be around smoke. By taking away balcony smoking you've forced us to use the assigned areas and the casino is one of those. Wouldn't it have made more sense to make the casino(which is inside) non smoking and keep the balconies(which are outside) smoking? I understand it's also a safety issue because some idiot might throw their cigarette overboard but it's a lot better than having a room full of smoke. I'd be happy with even one side of the ship having smoking balconies.

It sounds logical, but it really isn't. The smokers (who gamble more) would not be in the casino, but on their balconies smoking and sipping on a drink:D

I would still gamble. If I wanted to smoke I would just go out on deck. I would rather be able to have my coffee and cigarette on my balcony in the morning and before I go to bed. I don't want to have to get dressed and leave my room in order to find a place to smoke.

The gambling smokers will still be in the casino the same amount of time but instead of having to find somewhere to sip a drink and have a smoke other than the casino they would have their balcony.

Exactly!! Used to love the coffee and a cigarette. Why don't they do it like hotels that allow smoking rooms? You book, and they ask what your preference is? Pretty much of a no brainer to me. I swore I would never go on another cruise when they stopped the balcony smoking. But, I have sucked it up and use patches but it really is an inconvenience. Yes, I am ready for all the flames that this will cause. Anytime someone brings up smoking, alcohol smuggling, or how to tip, it gets ugly!
