madda Posted March 1, 2016 #1 Share Posted March 1, 2016 Although going on nine HAL cruises we have never used the Casino and thought on our next upcoming cruise we might play the poker machines etc, and was wondering how this works, do we have to purchase tokens and then this goes onto our OBC etc. Thanks for your help. MissShelllly Posted March 1, 2016 #2 Share Posted March 1, 2016 You need to use your room key in the poker machine. That will let you draw down funds to play with. When you have finished on a machine, any money you haven't spent gets loaded backs onto your card, and you can then use this in another machine. On the last night of the cruise, you go to the casino and cash out the money on your card. Yes, they give you cash. If you want, you can then go to the front desk to pay it off your shipboard account. You can also take cash from any winnings at any time during the cruise. There is no fee for drawing down funds from your onboard account. If you use your room key at one of the tables or at the casino cage, some ships will charge a 3% fee, although the last ship we were on didn't charge that fee. Hope this helps. Michelle. Krazy Kruizers Posted March 1, 2016 #3 Share Posted March 1, 2016 If you do win anything, you can't push the button and hear the coins coming out -- that has been gone for years.

You can also use cash (bills) to play and not have to use your cabin key. You do need to use the key to establish and conduct a casino account in the unlikely event that you WIN, in order to get your winnings out. Using your cabin key and account does allow you to earn points (cash back) for your play, but you have to play a fair amount in order to get anything back.
