Recommended Posts

First cruise here in about a month, and I'm actually really enjoying the preparation ahead of time. Specifically picking out a new Tux for the formal nights!!!

So for the entertainment of mainly myself, and the many others that are closet fashionistas... Please post your favorite picture/pictures of yourselves on formal night!!! :)

How do you know which night is formal night? Are there multiple on longer (8 day) cruises?

I believe on a longer cruise 7+ days they have 2 formal nights. They will be listed in your cruise compass once on board as to which nights. A lot of times you can get copies of the compass ahead of time in the forum from previous cruisers.

Pics people!!!! Have fun with it!!!! :)

Generally, the first formal night is on the second night of the cruise. The second formal night can depend on which itinerary you are on with most ships.

There is an entire board here on Cruise Critic dedicated to fashion.

And that is where people post those pictures. :)

Royal still has formal nights?

I will have to check back in November to see if that is still the case.

I know X did away with it and I thought that royal did too:confused:

Not officially. Most passengers seem to be voting with their wardrobes, however.  :D

Food & Beverage

Q: Will there be a Formal Night/Captains Night?

A: The Main Dining Room will continue to offer Formal Nights until the launch of Dynamic Dining later in the year. When Dynamic Dining goes live on Oasis of the Seas, there will not be a set Formal Night, however, guests who prefer a more formal experience should dine at The Grande, where every night is formal night.

I guess this varies by ship, I'll be on Anthem so I'm guessing this is the policy there.

On Quantum class ships, Royal has a concept called "Dynamic Dining". With the concept, instead of one big massive main dining room, it's broken into four separate restaurants each with it's own theme (one being a formal venue).

There are two types of Dynamic Dining to choose from... Dynamic Dining Choice, which allows guests to decide when, where, and with whom to dine each evening (very similar to My Time Dining), and Dynamic Dining Classic, which is designed for those who prefer a more traditional experience. Classic accommodates diners in a choice of early or late seating, and rotates them through a preset lineup of the complimentary main dining restaurants along with the same companions and wait staff throughout their cruise. Dynamic Dining Classic is available on a first come, first serve basis.

The craps tables were never very busy. We played with one couple that we met at dinner twice, but outside of that, I think there was only one other guy that I played with. When I wasn't playing never saw more than 5 people there. Never really a lot of action in that casino.
