Ocean Boy Posted March 16, 2016 #277 Share Posted March 16, 2016 Andrew' date=' which beach did you go to? How did you get there from the ship? It didn't look too crowded. Since you cruise often, what other St. Thomas beaches have you enjoyed? Have you ever taken a boat to St. John's for the day?[/quote'] We have gone over to St. John for the day on one of our visits to St. Thomas. The vibe on St. John is very different. It is a quiet peaceful island with far less tourists and the beaches are awesome. Cinnamon Bay is one of the most beautiful beaches that I've been on. Rare A&L_Ont Posted March 17, 2016 Author #281 Share Posted March 17, 2016 Boogie board drives me crazy since they outlawed all the tricks I can do. I found out they don't do stand-up the first day on Liberty so I'm sure I'll be out there doing it anyway. Will you check to see if they do the Boogie 360 competition on Allure? They did it on Oasis in October but I haven't heard about it anywhere else. We're going in October and my DS wants to set the record on Allure to go with his Oasis record (we're just hoping they do BOB on Liberty at this point). I will watch to see if they have it. When I chatted with a Sports desk staff about it I don't think there's much going on with boogie boarding in relation to competitions. Rare A&L_Ont Posted March 17, 2016 Author #282 Share Posted March 17, 2016 I've got a couple of friends up there who also apologize for Nickelback. I rather like them (I must be in a minority)! Tom Very few in Canada are fans of them. Sent from my iPhone using Forums mobile app

No wind! Beautiful day :D Catch up with you guys later:) Happy Days! Sounds like you guys had an amazing day too. I'm glad to see you found the flag. Rare A&L_Ont Posted March 17, 2016 Author #285 Share Posted March 17, 2016 Andrew' date=' which beach did you go to? How did you get there from the ship? It didn't look too crowded. Since you cruise often, what other St. Thomas beaches have you enjoyed? Have you ever taken a boat to St. John's for the day?[/quote'] We went to Emerald Bay. We took a taxi from the port and it was four dollars a person if you had more than two people. The taxi ride was five minutes. There was no fee to enter the beach. It didn't get overly crowded either. There is a restaurant with washrooms, a pool, and a bar. There are places to rent jet skis, paddle boards and Lisa says snorkelling was decent. We have been to Megans Bay numerous times and it is really nice but it takes quite a while to get there. There's also a fee to get into the beach. And lots of ship excursions end up there. We have gone to Cokie beach and it is smaller with a more party type crowd. I would say it might not be as friendly for families. We have contemplated going to St. John's but the long period of time to get there seems to outweigh the beaches that are closer. We said if we were to go to St. John's we would actually just stay there for a week. Sent from my iPhone using Forums mobile app

Rare A&L_Ont Posted March 17, 2016 Author #287 Share Posted March 17, 2016 Has Owen gone to Adventure Ocean? We will have an almost 8 year old and 10 year old with us when we are on the Allure Owen has done adventure ocean. I asked him what he thought of it tonight for you. He enjoys it when he is there but it is not as much fun as being at the pool, the flow rider, the beach, or the cabin. He is really outgoing but he just likes doing other stuff. When he's there though he always seems to have a good time. Sent from my iPhone using Forums mobile app

Rare A&L_Ont Posted March 17, 2016 Author #292 Share Posted March 17, 2016 For the person who asked if Allure was going to water slides the answer I got from a sports desk crew member was not that he was aware of. He said if they were to add them it would be at the next DryDock in just over 4 years.
Rare A&L_Ont Posted March 17, 2016 Author #293 Share Posted March 17, 2016 When we arrived at Emerald one of my past cruise mates in March 2015 and right now was fly boarding. Besides being a great flow rider he is also a natural at many water sports. Tonight it is greasy food porn night. Starting first with poor nutritional values but high on the tasty value food choices at the restaurant at Emerald Bay. The Menu. Conch fritters. Calamari Cheese pizza. The local steel drum band was playing when we returned around 4 pm. I was beat, and only rode in the morning for a couple of hours. Rare A&L_Ont Posted March 17, 2016 Author #294 Share Posted March 17, 2016 (edited) After returning to the ship we were beat. It's amazing how heavy wet towels filled with sand can weigh. The other amazing thing is how sand can migrate to practically any where on your body. A quick dinner was in order. It looks like we ordered one is everything but we didn't. It's just a small table. Really. Lisa and Owen went to the ice show and I caught up with them later. Multiple periscopes were filmed and a few photos along the way. The chaos of the 10 dollar watch sail and the T-shirt sale all on the same night. It would be sensory overload. It's amazing to think they continued with the 70s dance party tonight, as how could that follow the feverish excitement of the sales. Last stop, the ice show. I got this shot from behind the sound booth to which you can see the ice surface below. It looked cool. Rare A&L_Ont Posted March 17, 2016 Author #297 Share Posted March 17, 2016 (edited) I have to see a port vendor tomorrow regarding a previous visit and a promise that was made by one of his employees. I didn't really want to mention it until now as I didn't really want to concern my virtual cruisers. After the near dust up at the Princess cruise terminal I didn't want you folks to think that I go looking for trouble. As a Canadian you know that doesn't happen. Don't fret, as these things usually work themselves out. If not, I might just have to share the vendors name and location so you can avoid him and his jacka$$ employee. Sorry about the strong language, but I will update you tomorrow night on the outcome. I think it will be clearer then, and you will appreciate what I am trying to accomplish. I hope all went well with the deviant vendor today! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Thanks. So I went to find the owner or manager and there really wasn't anyone with power to help me with. The employee was still there working at their location at Crown Bay. He was standing his ground just stared me down with a blank look on his long face, at the same time promoting their devious marketing plan. I took a photo of the lizards that hang out along the walk back to the ship and then I then acted like I was fumbling with my camera and actually took a picture of the pain I call an a$$. Here he is. Rare A&L_Ont Posted March 17, 2016 Author #299 Share Posted March 17, 2016 Now we have to prepare for tomorrow. St Patrick's Day, the greatest Irish tradition in the quaint Dutch port of call of St Martin. I wonder how much green clothing we will see mixed with the national Dutch color of orange. Personal fashion stylists will have heads exploding across the quaint surrounds of St Martin. I will need to get my selfie stick and drive any snakes off their Island, or at least chase them over to the French side.
Rare A&L_Ont Posted March 17, 2016 Author #300 Share Posted March 17, 2016 (edited) A close out thought for the day. Since St Martin was historically not known as the Irish Island with Leprechauns and pots of gold I thought I'd see what my our names would translate to in Leprechaun. Since you can find anything on-line here we go. I might mention in advance that International Leprechaun Day isn't until May 13 of this this year, so we don't have to use our Leprechaun names in port today. I think Lisa would be most happy with that fact. Mine -- Burpin' Earl O'Fartsniffer. Lisa's -- Wee Eustice O'Fartsniffer Owen's -- Toothless Clethus O'Fartsniffer. If you happen to be in St Martin this year on May 13 of this year you might want to brush up on your Irish and drinking.[emoji38] You might also want to know your own name.
