shutuph Posted March 20, 2016 #1 Share Posted March 20, 2016 recent posts (December 2015) mentioned French doors are not opening at all.Can recent cruisers comment on if this is true and specify which ship. Thanks
KoalaWala Posted March 20, 2016 #2 Share Posted March 20, 2016 (edited) The doors do not open. They are also obstructed in view which is why they classified as an interior room. They were sealed for better passenger security so you can only enter through the main doors. This way Carnival could better handle reports of theft. MalleyCat Posted March 20, 2016 #3 Share Posted March 20, 2016 We've stayed in 4K's several times before the "locking of the doors". At those times, the doors opened in and we would keep them propped open with the bed or garbage can. There is no possible way for the doors to hit the lifeboats. KoalaWala Posted March 20, 2016 #4 Share Posted March 20, 2016 Haha, That's what happens when I try typing one thing while on the phone talking of another thing. It's a security issue.
Rosefloater Posted March 20, 2016 #5 Share Posted March 20, 2016 Just off the Miracle. Only the door with the lock opened. Just remember to unlock both of the locks.

yogibear Posted January 30, 2017 #9 Share Posted January 30, 2017 I just booked a Pride 4K room for November 2018. 14-day cruise. I hope at least one door will open. Was able to snag a cabin that looks to be between 2 lifeboats. Karen
funinthesun1964 Posted January 30, 2017 #10 Share Posted January 30, 2017 I've stayed in 4k's on Pride. The french door opened. And they swing inward, not outward. I propped ours open when I wanted fresh air.
Micahs Grandad Posted January 30, 2017 #11 Share Posted January 30, 2017 We have booked them twice and both times got an unasked for upgrade to O/V. Would like to experience this and have it booked later this year on Miracle

Cruisesfun65 Posted January 30, 2017 #13 Share Posted January 30, 2017 O/V is not an upgrade from a 4k, especially when between the lifeboats. Technically it is. 4K is an interior which is a lower category than an Ocean View. Is it a GOOD upgrade? I don't believe so.

I don't believe so. Yes, of course I was saying " in my opinion" and not technically and after staying in 6 ( soon to be 7 ) 4ks all between lifeboats with fresh air and the sound of the sea versus a dirty and salt encrusted and scratched piece of thick plexiglass and no fresh air it's an upgrade. Again, that's an opinion based on personal experience. Edited January 30, 2017 by sanmarcosman
Micahs Grandad Posted January 30, 2017 #15 Share Posted January 30, 2017 O/V is not an upgrade from a 4k, especially when between the lifeboats. To me it is not but to Carnival it is. Actually last time worked out well. Gave me o/v and than we used one of our Diamond upgrades to go to extended balcony.:)
