Heyitsnicolelee Posted April 1, 2016 #1 Share Posted April 1, 2016 My fiancé and I cannot decide on a honeymoon cruise. Ugh! Any reviews about the 7 night Hawaii cruise? Is there a lot to do around the ports where the ship docks or is it a lot of renting cars/public transportation to get around? We were thinking of doing a week at Aulani and then jumping on the cruise to finish out our vacation.
Qswift13 Posted April 1, 2016 #2 Share Posted April 1, 2016 We did a week in Oahu and then did the 7 night cruise. We rented a car everywhere but Kona. In Maui we did a snorkeling excursion and biked down the mtn after watching the sunrise with an excursion. It was a great way to see all the islands. We felt like we had enough time each day to do what we wanted on the island. We reserved our car rentals ahead of time and had no issues getting them quickly. A lot of things we did with our rental cars we could have done with an excursion but we enjoyed going at our own pace. Waihekean Posted April 1, 2016 #3 Share Posted April 1, 2016 Hi Nicole! There is a lot of research you can do here on Cruise Critic. First re reviews of ship. Scroll up on this page that is now open (or when you open CC) and you will see a button for reviews. Click on then go to menu for ships and go to the Pride of America. You will see that there are at the moment 1303 reviews. Click on 1303 to go to the last review. At bottom of review there is a button for the next review. On the main page CC describes the ship and facilities. Just above the page where your thread is, you see all the NCL ships listed. Click on the POA for it's own forum. Then of course there is the Ports of call forum for Hawaii. In each forum is a search function at top right of page, where you can do specific searches. Like Helicopter Tours in Kauau (click posts or threads). Then it will show posts or threads where these tours are mentioned. And once you have booked a cruise, go to the roll call section, look up your ship and cruise date, then join! You usually can find good tips there, maybe share a tour with another roll caller or even meet with the group at Sail-away. Some roll calls can be very quiet, but you can still look up busy roll calls for ideas. Careful! This might become a new hobby:D Hope you got LOTS OF TIME.... dexddd Posted April 1, 2016 #4 Share Posted April 1, 2016 We just got off the POA last Sat. Beautiful ship, great crew. Rented cars in each port, very easy to do. Congratulations BTW.
ryarger Posted April 1, 2016 #5 Share Posted April 1, 2016 Your plan is a good one. We did something similar. We started with the cruise to get the lay of the land. Then we did 10 days on the Big Island (5 Kona/5 Hilo) and finished off with 5 on Oahu. It was an absolutely fantastic time from start to finish. Sauer-kraut Posted April 1, 2016 #6 Share Posted April 1, 2016 My parents did a Hawaii cruise and just used the public busses to get around. They didn't rent cars and they had an excellent time.
FranknBeans Posted April 1, 2016 #7 Share Posted April 1, 2016 Hawaii is one of the most port intensive cruises going. You will be up early and Back late and to bed early to do the same the next day. Great cruise and bigger bang for your buck.
