How far can you walk on Half Moon Cay? Any restricted areas?

Just booked a HAL cruise early December with a day at HMC. I'm a bird watcher and see that the island is also a Wild Bird Preserve, so besides beach time, I would like to do some bird watching. I know people do, but not sure if there is any restricted areas to the cay. HMC map is restricted to the resort footprint....at least from the CC references. Thanks.
