rayness Posted April 12, 2016 #52 Share Posted April 12, 2016 Have fun. I want to take a TA next year. Trying to look for a bargain solo rate. I might have to take the plunge and pay the 200% and enjoy myself. It will be a bucket list trip. I guess age wise I'll be in the middle in my 40's. chicagopaul Posted April 12, 2016 Author #56 Share Posted April 12, 2016 Good morning everyone from the middle of the Atlantic. This is sea day number two of eight consecutive sea days and thus far I'm in love with the transatlantic. Weather right now is breezy and about 70 degrees. Feels a little cooler than that, but that is what the navigation channel is telling us for temperature. As I write this I am of course at the pool bar enjoying my first of several screw drivers. Yesterday was a great day. Weather was in the middle to upper 70s and sunny. Yesterday for lunch we went to Bistro on 5. We both had their soup of the day which was a cream of mushroom and their burger. The burger was huge and the flavors were strong but overall it wasn't my personal cup of tea. The burger did take a while to come out (at least 20/25 minutes). We had dinner in Murano yesterday which as always was flawless. We both had the same dinner as each other. We started with the salmon and crab parfait, followed by the diver scallop Wellington and the Dover sole. Food was great and service was even better. We ate at 8pm and we were surprised that Murano was not that busy at all. The show yesterday was a vocalist and we didn't go. We met one couple that was planning to go so I'll let you know how it was. Tonight is the production show which we will likely go to. Yesterday was also Chic night. Overall the crowd was dressed well. We saw a handful of tuxedos and suits as well as some Blazers and sport jackets. The seas are pretty calm, calmer than I thought though we are still far south. I assume as we turn our heading north more in. The coming days we will see rougher seas. The People: I'm loving the crowd. Not only is it a nicely sophisticated crowd as we've come to expect from celebrity, this is one of the friendliest groups of people I have ever come across. Everyone is talkative throughout the ship and I've lost count of how many people we've met and chatted with. Someone asked about the house band. The name of the band is Front Row. We didn't hear them yesterday, but they're scheduled by the pool today so I will let you know my thoughts. There is a guitarist named Terry Dobson. We've only heard a little of him from what I've heard he's very enjoyable. We will likely stop to hear him in ensemble tonight. I'll try and get a video. World Class Bar: Thank you to whomever recommended the Bulleit Infusion. I had two yesterday and it was incredible. Loved it! Internet: so, it's definitely better but I don't think you can stream on it. I ran a speed test and were are coming in at 0.91mbps on the download and 1.36 on the upload. I'll post some updated photos in a few minutes from you phone, I'm on my iPad right now. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

chicagopaul Posted April 12, 2016 Author #60 Share Posted April 12, 2016 Yawn! Losing an hour a day is hitting me! Well, and the excessive amount of drinks. Waking up has been easy but we are crashing in the afternoon. A little nap helped and once I can wake Edward up we will likely hit the casino. I was hoping to report on the house band but they never showed by the pool today and the weather warmed up quite nicely. The cruise director had a progressive putting tournament in the foyer today and then the activities manager had a golf chipping contest. You would chip a tennis ball into a mat to get points. Anyone can play and it was the port verse starboard sides of the ship. It had a nice turnout and was a lot of fun. We hit ocean view for lunch today. The inside was crowded but it was easy to find seats outside. The same selection as always in ocean view. The Indian station was my favorite today. chicagopaul Posted April 12, 2016 Author #61 Share Posted April 12, 2016 This was the bulleit infusion I had at the World Class Bar last night. It is Rye Whiskey infused with many different fruits from blue berries to oranges, etc. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
chicagopaul Posted April 12, 2016 Author #62 Share Posted April 12, 2016 Thanks for taking us along. We'll be on the Silhouette in 33 days for the 2nd time. We would appreciate if you could post the bar menu of World Class bar and the beer selection (especially at Cellar Masters) onboard. Do they have any wheat beers available such as Franziskaner? How much was the Ultimate Dining Package per day? Enjoy your TA!!! Haven't forgotten about your questions. The bar menu in World Class is 1 drink per page. I'll be taking photos and will upload. I'll also check on the beer menus for you. All the drinks in world class are $12. Ultimate Dining is $29pp/pd and it just be purchased for everyday of the cruise (you can't buy halfway through) and there is 18% gratuity added onto the 29. It is a great deal in my opinion. rayness Posted April 13, 2016 #67 Share Posted April 13, 2016 Enjoying the review. It's really making me want to book the TA. I'm deciding if I want to go my normal route and book directly though the cruise line or through an agent since I'll need hotel and airfare. If you book you air thru Celebrity, the prices for one-way air are very good.

Wayneair Posted April 13, 2016 #74 Share Posted April 13, 2016 Have fun. I want to take a TA next year. Trying to look for a bargain solo rate. I might have to take the plunge and pay the 200% and enjoy myself. It will be a bucket list trip. I guess age wise I'll be in the middle in my 40's. I say do it even if you do the 200%. Last year I took my first TA and had a friend join at the last minute so that helped. I am booked now for the Silhouette for the fall of 2017 and going solo. I look at it this way. Life is short, nothing is guaranteed, and I can not take it with me. Live it up. Yawn! Losing an hour a day is hitting me! Well, and the excessive amount of drinks. Waking up has been easy but we are crashing in the afternoon. A little nap helped and once I can wake Edward up we will likely hit the casino. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Thanks Paul for the many postings and glad you are enjoying your TA. I'm certain this will not be your last. On your next TA, go westbound so you can enjoy the 25 hour days and you will not have jet lag when you return home. We had a great crowd on the Silhouette for the fall 2015 crossing and we (FOD) were clearly represented. Enjoy those sea days because they go by fast. Rare countess5 Posted April 13, 2016 #75 Share Posted April 13, 2016 Paul: Not that you need them now, but would you look and see if there are any heaters in the Lawn Club. I have eaten twice there but in warm weather. We will be sailing out of Amsterdam next month and would like to eat there while we stop in Germany. The ship does not leave until midnight so no wind but the air could be cool/cold. We love that place and want to dine there. Thanks!
