UBP- Which ports have surcharge when drinking?

I will be on the Getaway this July going to the Western Caribbean. I have the UBP. I understand that there are some ports that will charge a surcharge for drinks while in port. Does anyone know which ports? I am going to Roatan Bay Islands - Honduras, Belize, Costa Maya and Cozumel.

I'm not aware of any foreign ports charging taxes, it is generally the US ports that charge sales tax on all purchases in port.

We were on the Dawn to those ports, the only time we were charged tax on drinks was while we were in New Orleans. :cool:

It is not a surcharge but rather local sales tax in some US ports.

I also had to pay tax on my Alaskan cruise when we were docked in Seattle

We paid taxes on drinks in Bahamas and GSC.

I have sailed out of both Houston & Galveston and never paid any taxes on drinks.

 

Houston does have limited selection of drinks while in port..
