Oh yes your correct, they make an excellent one for sure...I wonder whether they make any other GF desserts, one year on the Fascination we had early dining same waiter each night and he made sure I had it every night, I have to honestly say it was too much for me and got tired of it every night but I couldn't break his heart lol.

The way the appetizer with the rabbit is presented in a puff pastry is not GF. They come pre-made frozen and go from box to oven to table per maitre d. Daughter had to pass.

No tablecloth its a big downgrade for me. plus menu look like cheap american mass market restaurant food not like cruise ship food.
It's basically the same stuff as the last menu. And what did you think of the old one with the "Didja Ever" section? Sorry, but that's about as tacky and cheap looking as you can get in my book.
IMO the ATM gives "more" choices than the old, but then.. more isn't necessarily better. Old way had a side of the day: about 2-3 soups, a few starters, 5-6 entrees w/ 1 pasta, 1 seafood, 1 beef, 1 chicken or pork.. that kind of thing. And an always there side, w/ salads and shrimp cocktail and flat iron steak and roasted chicken IIRC. The ATM has a 'port inspired' side that offers the more flavorful options, the Didja item is just a different name w/ apps. w/ the entrees there's always that selection of 'always there' w/ either salmon or pork chop, etc. plus the option to upgrade SH selections. Per other comments, the ATM does leave off a good number of older - and better - items like soups, desserts in effort to change things up.

My issue isn't the menu or the changes- it's the food, and that it hasn't been improved or upgraded. IDK kinda think mass market restaurant food would be an improvement in terms of flavor, temp, consistency etc. I mean, we all go out to Cheesecake Factory, to Carrabbas, to Outback etc. b/c we like them. Per my last cruise, so many dishes on the menu had a great description, but I'd never go back to that 'restaurant' to try them again. YMMV.

I enjoy trying new dishes, but my kids don't feel the same. So, I have two questions for those who have tried American Table on Sunshine or Magic. (1) Is the same grilled chicken breast that was on the old menu still available every night?

(2) Is the same plain baguette-style bread available every night in the bread basket?

Just sailed the Sunshine. The grilled chicken breast is there, and there were always baguettes in the bread basket.

The casino sent me steakhouse selections a couple of nights (so no charge to me).

We got free steakhouse selections on our last cruise too... but not because of the casino. We both ordered the surf and turf and they brought my FH's steak out cooked with part of the plastic wrapper still around it from when they cut it. Other then that, I agree I MUCH prefer the steakhouse lobster tail and steaks.

Have yet to cruise with these new menus and I'm kinda excited too try it.

We were one of the first people to board the Fascination (FTTF) in december and was approached immediately to join the Chef's Table which we gladly and immediately did only to find ourselves during the first night dinner, to be approached telling us they sorry but it was booked up. It was a very tacky thing to do and to mess up that way, we were so excited to be trying it only to get disappointed, so from now on with this experience left in our heads, we will never be trying the Chefs Table...at least they should of picked up a glass of wine during that dinner when they cancelled us out I think. :roll eyes:

So, because you procrastinated and didn't try to book the Chef's Table until AFTER you boarded the ship (I have ALWAYS book this prior to boarding to ensure a spot), Carnival owes you some type of restitution?

Is the new menu on the Miracle? If so does anyone know the port selections for PV, Cabo & Mazatlan since we are definitely not in the Caribbean. :)

BonVoyage

Dawna

I got off the miracle on 4/9. They have the American table. We had two nights in cabo and one in Puerto Vallarta. The port selection in Puerto Vallarta was fish tacos and they were good. One night in cabo was carne asana tacos and I passed. I,don't remember th second night of cabo's port selection cause I did not order it but I think it was something pork based.

I liked the American table menus on the miracle, and like others said the ship's chef can either make it good or bad. I spent ten days on the dream in the Caribbean in January with the American table and both the food and the service was sub par to me.

The major changes between both the old and new menus I noticed were with the appetizers and the deserts. And yes there were more chilled soups.

Although I was looking forward to a few dishes I have enjoyed in the past and were no longer on the menu we still found items that sounded good and appetizing. We were wrong. The flavor level was not as high as it has been in the past. many items were flavorless. I can overlook sauces etc if the meat has a good flavor and is somewhat tender. I realize they are not serving prime grade beef on a Carnival ship but every beef dish we had was either extremely fatty, or was tasteless, or was tough.....sometimes all three. Chicken was dry and fish was devoid of taste other than the sauce on it.

Years ago we ate twice at the Circus Circus Las Vegas buffet. Once for breakfast and next for dinner. It was atrocious. Worst dining experience I ever had. Carnivals Lido buffet is just about bordering on that Circus Circus quality. The only item I thoroughly enjoy is the banana bread on the breakfast buffet and fresh fruit.

We recently decided on a vacation with friends who always cruise with us and we have opted out of a Carnival cruise because of the food. We are taking a beach vacation that will cost us more but one that we will at least have great meals. I do so love cruising and I love Carnival. I just no longer like their food.

By the way my last 4 cruises were 3 on the Breeze and 1 on the Glory. The Glory was the first American Table we've had but the 3rd Breeze cruise was really bad food and that was the original menu.

agp_mzk - We didn't know the Fascination had Chefs Table since it doesn't even have a steakhouse!!!! We only found out about it when we were approached as they said they had seats to fill. It was not proper to come over to our table the first evening to give us this disappointing news while we were dining!

Carnival was wrong, I have dined in 4/5 star restaurants the past 25 years and if something was not up to par or was wrong trust me they always have done something to show they are apologetic..either offer a drink, dessert or an appetizer, this is common practice is 4/5 star restaurants because they want to show you this is not the norm of their establishment and want you to come back. I have even had reservations at a fine restaurants and to find we had a wait for a table, what the manager generally will do is to offer a drink at the bar while waiting for the table...obviously you have not dined at fine restaurants to know about those things, so now you know.

As a result, we will not give our money to Chefs Table they do not know how to treat a customer case closed.

That poster likes to stir the pot. Since when would they single out a cruiser to join a chef's table, especially if there were no vacancies? Since when do they keep track of where someone is eating and come to the table to tell you there's no openings?

I agree. Her initial review mentioned nothing about being approached. Seems every other post brags about how she dines in fine restaurants regularly. Have even seen her edit what she says she spends per person when dining out in such fine establishments to some ridiculously high amount that most people would never spend. Not sure why she keeps expecting Carnival to meet her high expectations. Carnival is not fine dining. I'm not saying they're horrible. On the contrary, there are thousands here who are perfectly satisfied with their product, and I'm sure it's not just me that finds her continuous bragging that Carnival is beneath her to be a subtle attempt to insult the 99%.

Thank you so much for answering my question. I can be excited about trying a new menu as long as I know that my kids can still rely on their favorites if they don't like the other choices. They find that food "safety net" comforting.

My only complaint about the menus is that there are nights with three very appealing choices and nights without anything I'm dying to order. But, I'm sure I'll survive. :D

I still can't get hold of the new menu's and I am reading boards of so many people saying they prefer the old menu's but nobody saying why. Can anybody tell me why they prefer the old menu's whats wrong with the new ones?

There is nothing wrong with the new menus at all. Some people are always looking for something to complain about.

Ruthlessbob we were one of the first people boarding the ship, we went to get a table to sit in the buffet, immediately an employee approached us to tell us about the Chefs Table and mentioned they had vacancies and we accepted and he took down our cabin numbers so that our cards can be charged for the fee.....the answer to your question is simple, they had our cabin numbers and knew what time and where we had dinner in the dining room.

E & B- I am NOT the only person to spend a lot of money when we dine out, there are so many others in this world that do the same. So you say, spending "ridiculously high" amount of money for a meal is ridiculous , FYI, you get what you pay for, just like going to Carnivals steakhouse you pay a little bit more but your getting a better quality piece of meat than you would get on the regular menu in the MDR, same goes at restaurants, if I were to go to fast food chain such as Applebees and order their steak it certainly isn't even close to Mortons Steakhouse, so paying more definitely is worth it. I can't keep these 4/5 star restaurants in business just by myself obviously many many others spend money to dine in these places too so your statement is incorrect.

I never have Carnival on high expectations, have you ever seen me rave about the food on Carnival or anything else about Carnival (excluding the casino because Carnival's casino treats us the best) NEVER...when we cruise Carnival its for the casino or just to get away, its never our main cruise of the year and we take other vacations such as we go to Aruba for a couple of weeks every year. When we cruise Carnival we know we won't be eating good (and do get laughs out of it we like to joke a lot when we are away) but we can do that since that is not how we eat here at home. The Steakhouse is overall wonderful on the Valor last year 7 out of 8 nights we had dinner at the Steakhouse and every night, worth the extra little bit of money.

Your absolutely WRONG to say that I think Carnival is beneath me, you don't know me and don't know all the things I went through in life as a poor person in the past, so I know what it is like to count the change also, if I thought Carnival is as I quote you "beneath me", I would NEVER cruise Carnival, thusly, I am not insulting anybody at all, sorry you take it that way, perhaps your just jealous?

Carnival has so many pros....employees always smiling, friendly and become our friends on the ship, they have the best casino, the steakhouse is excellent and better than all the other specialty restaurants on Royal Caribbean, the rooms are larger and its inexpensive, its a decent product for what you get and we always will continue to cruise Carnival just like we will continue to cruise other cruise lines.

DECLANSDAD- Your are so correct about some people..... Somebody gave me a copy of the menu's here and I agree there isn't anything wrong with the menu's in fact I find some positives on them, this is one of the reasons why we decided to eat in the MDR 6 nights (one night we will try the italian restaurant). :D

When you notice that 75%+ of the OP's postings center around, or repeatedly mention, alcohol consumption understanding the perspective becomes glaringly obvious.

Stolid cruiser- Wow, am I that popular here that you know my posts hahaha

I should start a new thread since YOU brought up this issue....... Carnival only offers cheap inexpensive discussing wine brands...you brought up the alcohol issue on this post not I and by the way, you know NOTHING about me....the old saying applies to you....You are making an ass out of yourself when you assume. But I gather, you need some frustrations or attention in your life, your post has no validity to my mentioning about the menu's.

You just have to know how I speak...I can speak and listen the same time, or listen to two different conversations at once and understand them both totally, and my mind thinks too fast lol. I don't know what I ever contradicted....but its ok doesn't matter no issue.

I heard the American Table is now on the Dream. I am so excited after having 4 cruises in a little over a year with the old menus. They got repetitive and I was no longer looking forward to the food. Now I can't wait to try some new things!
