RoxiRoo Posted April 22, 2016 #1 Share Posted April 22, 2016 Hello All, I had read last year that the new dock should be ready sometime this summer season for ISP cruise ships - no more tendering. Has anyone been there and seen it yet? Any pictures? Just very curious of the location and all. :) Thanks!

olemissreb Posted April 22, 2016 #4 Share Posted April 22, 2016 WOW! Will that be nice! When we were there 3 years ago, we were told that there was so much contention between the parties involved that it might never get built. Good to see that changed. Rare kjquilts Posted May 11, 2016 #12 Share Posted May 11, 2016 we are on the Pearl tied up at new dock. Will post photos Sunday evening. Gorgeous sunny day so going ashore to explore. We've seen whales from balcony and now from Spinnaker Lounge. Glacier Bay was spectacular yesterday. We saw more of it than on previous cruises because Pearl had extended hours there. It was sunny and cold.

Rare kjquilts Posted May 11, 2016 #15 Share Posted May 11, 2016 Sunny and 61 degrees at 2:55 😄 we saw so many whales and some Eagles. One whale kept surfacing about 100 yards from shore. We really enjoyed a low key day here.

232271 Posted May 12, 2016 #17 Share Posted May 12, 2016 Can two ships dock at once? THANKS!!:D
Rare kjquilts Posted May 13, 2016 #18 Share Posted May 13, 2016 . No, just room for one ship to dock. Guy working there said they are going to have " 2 ship Tuesdays" with one ship coming in early am and leaving early afternoon and then second ship coming in for later afternoon/evening visit. Had beautiful sunny warm day in Ketchikan today. No coat needed😄 Can two ships dock at once? THANKS!!:D

I may get flamed for saying this, but I'm glad to hear there will only be one ship there at a time. ISP is relatively unspoiled by commercialism . . . so far! Rare kjquilts Posted May 16, 2016 #22 Share Posted May 16, 2016 (edited) We really loved Icy Strait Point - beautiful setting and we were blessed with wonderful weather, whales and eagles. This is a port where you can spent very little money and still have a wonderful day if you enjoy nature. Here are a few photos This is from sign board and gives a good idea of the layout of the pier area This is Larry and I walking on the pathway next to the water The dark shapes in the water in front of the people on the rocky beach that is next to the pathway are whales Closer up and better yet Edited May 16, 2016 by kjquilts
