MTElkwhistle Posted April 23, 2016 #1 Share Posted April 23, 2016 When are the ships decorated for Christmas? If at all. Thinking of booking 1st week in December. Thanks
WestLakeGirl Posted April 23, 2016 #2 Share Posted April 23, 2016 You may see them going up. It's usually a process, not an event and takes a few days to accomplish, starting after Thanksgiving
sound_guy0918 Posted April 23, 2016 #3 Share Posted April 23, 2016 They decorated during our cruise that ran 12-14 thru 12-20, most decorations appearing overnight the last night of the cruise.
gopro63 Posted April 23, 2016 #4 Share Posted April 23, 2016 One week after turkey day the tree is already up the stair case gets its décor and Christmas stuff during your cruise. So if you want to be in full décor do not book after turkey day or the week after.
CruisinNole Posted April 23, 2016 #5 Share Posted April 23, 2016 (edited) When are the ships decorated for Christmas? If at all. Thinking of booking 1st week in December. Thanks We were on the Silhouette last Thanksgiving and there were some decorations up the next day. A month later, we cruised on her for Christmas and there were even more decorations. The grand staircase was completely closed off with decorations. Looked very pretty. Happy2cruise Posted April 23, 2016 #6 Share Posted April 23, 2016 We did a Christmas cruise this past December and a crew member told us they start right after Thanksgiving and the total decoration takes about a month.

phoenix_dream Posted April 23, 2016 #8 Share Posted April 23, 2016 Judging by the answers, it varies by ship. I don't think we can assume all ships start right after Thanksgiving. In fact, I know they do not. We have been on the Summit a couple of times that week and once they started to decorate, and once they did not. I think it may depend partly on when Thanksgiving is - sometimes it is early and sometimes it is late. If you are cruising mid-December I think it is safe to assume decorating will have at least started and most likely (but not definitely) will be finished. Before that, it is a crap shoot. ClaudiaB Posted April 24, 2016 #9 Share Posted April 24, 2016 We were on the Thanksgiving cruise last fall on Eclipse. Decorations began to appear the very next morning, and by the time we left the ship a few days later there were some trees up and garland and decorations all over the ship. We noticed people decorating all during the day those last cruise days, in different areas of the ship, and even the windows in the ship's stores were "beginning to look a lot like Christmas." I have to say many of the decorations were kind of "tired" looking, dated, and I really wanted to get in there and spruce some of them up myself! GUT2407 Posted April 24, 2016 #11 Share Posted April 24, 2016 we do a lot of cruises staring around 10 December, roughly 50:50 on decorations being up when we embark, near on 100% up by the end of the cruise.
