Is There A Charge To Switch Rooms

My sister and I are booked on the Magic this summer. We both had bounce back deals from the casino so we got good rates.

I booked a wrap around balcony & she booked an interior across the hall. We had planned that she will get a key to my cabin so that she can enjoy the balcony whether I'm in there or not. She likes taking naps in the afternoon & wanted the interior for that reason - dark is good for naps.

Unfortunately I've had some issues lately - I'm 3 1/2 weeks into a really, really bad case of the shingles and now I have to have surgery on my lower leg in a couple of weeks.

I'm sure I will be over both things by July, but I've never been sick and this has me wondering:

Is there a charge if I switch rooms with my sister just in case things continue to be a challenge for me - I don't want her to miss out on the wrap balcony - we've never been in one. I know that anything can happen - she might get sick or injured, who knows?

Also, for those of you who know - do I have to make the switch well before the cruise, or could I do it a few days before?

I appreciate any opinions.

I would not worry about it, just get the keys changed after you board. You both will have to be there, or better yet, just get a second key made for each room. Done. Your welcome. You might have a bit of a problem when tallying up the charges aboard for each of you, but that should work out. Hope you feel better soon..

I think what the OP is trying to say is she wants to switch rooms with her sister so in the unlikely event that the OP has to cancel, her sister would still sail but be in the BL cabin.

You need to call Carnival, but they probably are going to make you cancel your current bookings then rebook in the other cabins and when that happens it's probably going to charge you the current rate.

Why not share the BL since it's your sister?

Trying to work this out with the cruise line at this point would be the worst thing you could do. Confusion reigns!

There is no bed check or roll call when you board the ship.

Take the advice of previous posters and have a great time!

I'm sorry I didn't make that clearer - you know dealing with shingles messes with my thinking.

I wasn't talking about switching cabins once onboard. I meant if something happens and I can't make it, I wanted to make sure that my sister didn't miss out on the balcony. We already plan to get an extra key for my cabin once we get onboard so we could both enjoy the balcony.

For the poster who asked why don't we share a cabin since we're sisters - we normally do (we actually own a home together), but when we both got great deals last year, our PVP suggested we get separate cabins next to each other for the same price as sharing one cabin (this was a casino deal), we decided to try it and it was WONDERFUL!! It was the best of both worlds - hang out together, but at night if she wanted to stay out late in the casino & I didn't, she didn't have to sneak in quietly. And, to be honest, she snores and is always worried that she is bothering me at night. Plus just having the extra room was very nice - sleeping on a king beats sleeping on a singel anytime.

Okay, so it sounds like switching rooms would be a problem. I'm just going to have faith that we will both be good to go in July.

I've never had to miss a cruise & neither has she, so I'm sure it will be fine. I think I'm needlessly anxious because this is the first time I've really gotten sick (lucky me) no flu - no surgeries, no having to miss work for more than one day at a time.

Thanks everyone for your thoughts.
