Reflection Alcoves

Have had the same experience- However we have had the alcove attendant serve our lunch when we ordered it from the Porch. Also not sure if this was already mentioned, as I am not going to re-read, but the attendant also brings you a fruit and cheese platter in the afternoon, upon request, and you will have bottled water in a cooler throughout the day. We tend to tip about $10 to $20 per day at the end of the week if we have for the week- depending upon the level of service and our usage.

Enjoy.

Cruise, we finished our Reflection cruise last week and on port days they had discounted Alcoves to $79 and were including lunch from The Porch. Sea days were booked solid and, of course, no Porch lunch.

To those reading who have never booked an Alcove, the $79 is not common same for The Porch lunch inclusion. It was, I assume, just for that sailing because they were trying to rent them out.

Traveling with two adult children (18 and 22), is the alcoves a good fit for a family of 4?

Well, it depends on what you mean by "good fit". There is seating for 4 that consists of one couch/lounge and 2 chairs. But there's only room for one person to "lay out"--on the couch--and the chairs aren't too comfy for propping feet up.

More info you didn't request:

I was on in May and originally booked alcoves for several days. Long story short: after two days we canceled and Celebrity was great about refunding the difference right away. While they are a lovely idea and the staff serving us were awesome, the Alcoves leave a good deal to be desired. Among those things is the comfort of the furniture and its lack of appropriateness for sunning;another is the fact that they have their backs to the view most of us desire: ocean. We also found the incredibly loud music up there to be somewhat annoying. Generally, because the area tended to be pretty unpopulated, crew were willing to either silence it or turn it down a notch.

With all that negative out of the way, it does provide a central spot for a small group to meet up throughout the day, and if you don't have a balcony, then you've got a guaranteed spot. There were only two of us with a good sized S1 balcony so we just didn't need it.

I notice that they'll be installing Alcoves on Equinox this Spring and am hoping that they "fix" some of the issues currently on Reflection because it's a super concept.

I've loved the Alcoves most cruises we have booked them. We've been on Silhouette many times, with our family, and thought the Alcoves were great to have a meeting place. We used them as home base, and there was always someone in them when we had a group of 4 - 8. For just the two of us, we rarely spend the money.

Sadly, the price has gone up considerably on sea days, from $149 to $249. No longer in the budget.

We loved the alcoves on the silhouette and reflection and always try to book them. Four people are fine and sometimes if you have kids with you they lay on towels in front on your cabana. We enjoy the service of the attendants who bring you drinks, bottled water fruit and cheese platters. If you have the drink package, no charge for alcoholic drinks. Aldo great to bring your lunch to the cabana. Since we sail often we enjoy the days we stay on the ship. Never had a problem with loud music. We will be sailing on the equinox and glad to here they will be installed Some people IMO waste money in casinos or buying “art” work, so enjoy what you like. Imo alcoves worth it
