sydnywde Posted May 4, 2016 #1 Share Posted May 4, 2016 i am trying to book my ketchikan stop and can't decide on what to do! We love wildlife and my husband likes to take pictures. We want to go to alaska for the beautiful scenery and wildlife. Here is my dilemma: The 3 ideas i have are -- kayaking through orca cove (southeast sea kayaks), a zodiak boat tour, or ziplining (southeast exposure or alaska canopy). Anyone have opinions or pros/cons of each of the above to help me decide! WE are in ketchikan from 7 am - 4 pm so after one of these in the morning, we would maybe try to make it to Cape Fox Lodge or something like that. HoneyBubba Posted May 6, 2016 #2 Share Posted May 6, 2016 We enjoy doing the Kayaking with Southeast. We used them 6 years ago to Orca Cove. Saw a little bit of wildlife but it was quiet and scenic. Going back this year with a group of 9 and doing it all over again.
LindaSSF Posted May 7, 2016 #3 Share Posted May 7, 2016 We've done the zodiacs before. Bumpy, wet, fast. We saw a tremendous amount of wildlife along the shoreline. We're doing it again this year!
mapleleaves Posted May 7, 2016 #4 Share Posted May 7, 2016 (edited) Have you looked for video on youtube? or the video library on Alaska.org? Perhaps that would help with your decision. Also, consider the experience under different weather conditions, especially rainy. What would it feel like to zipline, zodiac or kayak if it's 50 and raining? (Not sure how ziplining fits into the equation if your interests are photography and wildlife ??) Edited May 7, 2016 by mapleleaves
