Did you see this May 5 announcement about improvement in internet speed for Oceania & her sister lines, coming by July?

"A competition is brewing for the fastest Internet at sea, with Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings becoming the latest cruise company to enhance its onboard Wi-Fi experience.

The company -- which owns Norwegian Cruise Line, Oceania Cruises and Regent Seven Seas Cruises -- plans to quadruple the bandwidth across all three of its brands to meet cruisers' demand for stronger Wi-Fi onboard. Through a new partnership with Emerging Markets Communications (EMC), Norwegian will install multimillion-dollar bandwidth and performance-boosting technology on all ships before the end of June.

Among the upgrades are new satellite dishes and EMC's SpeedNet program, which, according to the company's statement, delivers popular websites at speeds that mimic high-speed fiber optic networks, similar to those available in homes and offices. The new services will complement the recent deployment of high-speed connectivity in popular ports."

This would be great if it happens, especially with the included internet on Olife.

Be nice to have it for our July cruise. It is needed as they are now giving a lot of free internet and the old system probably would not be able to handle any additional traffic.

This is very welcome news. We were recently aboard Riviera with free unlimited internet for all passengers. The internet was nearly unusable except at odd hours.

I believe that faster bandwidth would be a deciding factor for many passengers choosing a trip. With a fair amount of free time, most would enjoy the ability to use their devices. I have to trust that the cruise lines realize this, and will soon make it a standard.

It's the rare exception that someone travels without some device. Life is a matter of priorities and when this issue gets solved the industry will finally understand how important this issue is. IMHO
