I have a 12:24 pm flight from MIA and have been reading some are standing in customs lines for almost 2 1/2 hrs., I know this is not the norm. I want to have breakfast in the dining room before debarkation. Do you feel not doing walk off I will still make the flight? (Hope this made sense)

Possibly.. try to get as early debarkation as you can when they put the tags out... but seeing what happens from time to time you can never be sure. If our flight was that time getting off last Sunday we would have missed it for sure.

If you do self-disembarkation and if all the planets are aligned, it could be done. To exit the ship, you have to go through the Casino on Deck 7 and it could take quite a bit of time.

On our recent cruise, even with self-disembarkation, it took a very long time to exit the ship and make it through customs and we would have missed the flight.

If you put tags on your luggage and left it outside your cabin before going to bed, although you have a disembarkation time, remember that it may take some time to get off the ship and then you have to retrieve your luggage in the hangar which we noticed could be a challenge.

You also have to take into consideration possible traffic jams en route to the airport.

If things go normal, there should be no problem. Normally you walk straight through cuatoms with a minute for them to inspect your docuements.

We have sailed out of the POA many times and have had delays twice.

Once because customs were processing non-US citizens that joined the cruise midway.

Once because fog closed the port and it was not opened until 10:30.

I was in line for about an hour and a half yesterday...tons of international cruisers and it took so long for them to get processed. This was my seventh cruise and perhaps I've just been lucky before but it was crazy. The non US passengers seemed to take 5-10 minutes to get through whereas my group was waved through in under a minute. Glad we weren't flying out yesterday!

In addition Getaway was hit with a full customs inspection last Sunday so many passengers were very late in leaving... I felt so bad for them as I'm sure some missed flights.

If I use a Porter would it be faster?

Many report that a porter takes them through a faster line. We've been cruising 4 times a year (mostly through Miami) and haven't seen a major delay. Sometimes a half hour or so in line to customs.

I live in Miami about the same distance from the port as the airport is from the port. On our cruise last month, we took the very last color tag to get off the ship. We got off around 9:30am, picked up our luggage, walked right through customs, waited a bit for my friend to get to the port to pick us up, and were home by 10:30am. If all goes smoothly, you should have no trouble getting to the airport in time for your flight.

Yes out of Port Canaveral as you get to cut the line, doesn't work that way in Miami. Porter takes your bags and waits for you to get thru the line, then meets back up with you.
