Alaska Cruise Cell Phone Service Aboard Ship?

My husband and I have a business that is open 24/7. Unfortunately our key person just quit and now we don't have anyone to answer the phones for us while we are away next week. :-(

 

Can someone tell me if there is good cell phone service aboard the ship? We are sailing from Seattle to Skagway.

 

I appreciate any help on this!

There is but its expensive...around $2.50 a minute!

Wouldn't you be able to connect to WiFi with the unlimited package?

There will be cell reception but as stated above you are looking at 2.50 or so per minute. If you are close to land sometimes you can pick up a tower but the rest of the time you will be roaming on the ships network.

 

Last cruise I was on I was on con calls a few times for work and ended up with a $4000 phone bill :eek:

If you have AT&T then check into their Cellular at Sea program. We've used it several times and it works excellent.

We are on Infinity now. We have Verizon Wireless and it connects directly to the cellular satellite service on the ship called "cellular at sea". We paid for Verizon international service $40/mo but we have been in all international ports. When you sign up on their web site or by calling them just tell them your ship. There is no additional charge at all from Celebrity. It works great! Furthermore with Verizon you can instead choose a daily plan for Canada (just $2/day) when you are in port there and it uses your unlimited US plan. For Alaskan ports your current US plan will work. Also remember that Alaska is USA, and your phone will work in all US ports, just like at home, but not at sea on the ship. If you go to Vancouver or Victoria, it is expensive.
