Possible missing passenger - Liberty

I was also onboard. What saved that guy's life is he jumped during the day and a lot of people saw him take a swan dive. Regardless, we thought the ship did a fantastic job getting him back onboard.

Absolutely NO doubt about it!

I recall the relief of everyone when that man was found...alive. (after doing that swan dive from deck 12!)

It was something I'll never forget.

IMHO, How sad that a person would be furious about missing a port when someone lost their lives. Just makes me think how uncaring the human race can be.

This 'falling/jumping' happens often enough that it should be listed among the many other things that could cause a ship to change itinerary/miss a port. I have always said, if you are rigid about your vacations; if you are adamant about seeing the ports on your itinerary DO NOT CHOOSE A CRUISE. Fly to your destination.

There are so, so many things that could go wrong and cause changes in your sailing that you have to be able to go with the flow.

http://www.kabc.com/news/fbi-investigates-death-of-texas-mom-who-went-overboard-on-carnival-cruise-ship/

FBI is looking into it

Carnival spokesperson tells PEOPLE, “That is not a picture of blood. There was no blood found. There was no knife found. There is no suspicion of foul play. They are just rumors. We are getting a lot of inquiries about it and there is just nothing to it.”

Let's hope it's a rumor!

I can't find any pictures or articles on People's magazine of anyone being escorted off the ship in handcuffs...

Same here. Just read both articles on their website. Says nothing about either. No wonder why poster didn't want to include a link.

It's in the comment section. There are numerous pics posted

I just wasted 20 minutes looking through 4 People articles on their website and there was not one picture posted. Maybe you are better off posting a link, or maybe you are just trolling.

Can't post the link because it's on a site that can't be mentioned. It's under the replies to comments. I have been a member here for 10 years I am certainly not a troll.

As sad as this story is, it's another example of someone making bad decisions and paying a huge price for it. Whether she was intoxicated or not, we may never know. She may have simply went out on deck to smoke a cigarette and very foolishly thought she could climb up and sit on the railing. Again, we can all try to speculate what happened but the sad truth is, she was someone's wife, daughter, sister and mother. The one thing that bothers me is why a woman would be out on a deck by herself at 2 am. I think sometimes we use poor judgement when it comes to personal safety. If anything good can come from this horrible accident, is hopefully, people will think twice about making sound choices when on vacation.

I agree 1000%.

No one has mentioned the obvious.

That the only way to prevent someone from doing something dangerous like sitting on a railing (let's face it, we've all done something similar in our lives) is to increase the height of the railing.

But that would require ships to invest a considerable amount of money and, further, it would result in passenger complaints that their view was being interfered with. And still, a determined (or drunk) person could probably find a way to climb over even a high railing.

I've never done anything like that in my life. Also, she climbed on top of something. One report said it was a speaker. Raising the railings will not stop stupid careless (most likely drunk) behavior. Good day.

This may be the dumbest thing I have read on CC.

LOL! I agree about the comment. No one answers those health forms truthfully, and who in their mentally ill mind would say that they're crazy and suicidal? It made me laugh!

I am with Jackie. Why was she alone? I know my girlfriends, sister and now husband would wonder where I was within 15 minutes. If I went to the restroom, get food, or whatever. If I didn't come back I would be searched for. Especially when drinking was involved. We would always go to the bathrooms in pairs for that reason.

And no one saw her fall? On such a large ship I would think someone saw something!

My heart and prayers do go out to the family. Hope they find some closure in this horrible accident.

Exactly. I would never be outside alone at 2 am on a girls trip. Not on a ship, not on land. Why did the other girls leave her and go to bed? What was she doing? Either way, passing judgement is no good. She made a horrible decision and paid the ultimate price.

saying you're happy with a price increase to obtain a system they you think carnival should have knowing full well that if your price goes up so does everyone else's is pretty dumb as well.

or else you're happy sticking it to everyone else so that you can get what you want out of life.

personally, i'm not happy paying for someone else's irresponsibility.

But we as taxpayers DO pay for others irresponsibilities. We pay at the grocery store and other stores for shoplifters, on and on. I won't go into all the details but I think you know what I'm talking about. I don't want to pay extra to put a system on board just because someone chooses to do something foolish - after being told not to do it. No one is ever happy to get something sticked to them -not me anyways.

We're seriously not allowed to link to People magazine here?

Surely they can't represent a threat to CC's revenue stream.

oh no, you misconstrue my intent. if someone is dumb enough to fall overboard, so be it. if they are noticed at the time of the incident and a life raft can be launched to possible save the person, no extra cost really. if not, well lesson learned by others to not do the same thing. when one is responsible for one's self, they might actually take the effort to take care of their life.

taxpayers are not responsible for passenger's stupidity and i'll vote however i can to ensure that. deal with that.

as a sidebar, for those wishing to get drunk or be stupid and fall overboard near me y'all better hope someone else is around to show you compassion because i'll most likely being saying 'have a nice day' and carry on.

Understood, my good person, and thanks for the clarification. :)

I'm a bit of a computer nerd myself!:D

Just read on another site that shall not be named that someone was arrested and escorted off ship today

Was watching the Galveston Cruise Cam this morning. It's interesting watching the tugs move the ship, then dock, etc.

Someone was escorted off the ship in handcuffs.
