Hi,

We will be arriving two nights early before our cruise next April. We don't plan to spend two days at port, we wanna go to Sawgrass Mills and do the things Canadians do when in the states, shop :) I'd rather get up that morning and take a taxi to port. So where do we stay, just like clean and availability. Any help would be helpful. Thanks!

http://www.sunny.org has lots of FLL area tourist and hotel information. ;)

Dates and budget would help the suggestions to be more on target.

I would focus on 17th street area - lots of chain hotels and dining options. Embassy Suites is popular with cruisers, but there are many more to choose from.

If you aren't worried about being at the beach or port, I'd stay out at Sawgrass. I'm sure you can get a good deal on a hotel out there.

You can also take a look at the GalleryOne. It's a 3 minute walk to the Galleria mall. Not quite as large as sawgrass but it's decent. There are some great restaurants there also as well as blue martini. Publix grocery and Starbucks are just across the street.

It's just a great location if you don't plan on using a car. The hotel is also a water taxi stop so very convenient.

But it's that closer to Galleria?

Galleria mall is a 3 minute walk from GalleryOne Hotel. As I said it is a decent mall but Sawgrass is a much larger with many more shops.

I would pick the GalleryOne to stay just because of it's location and convenience of the water taxi and so many great restaurant options all in walking distance not to mention you are on the water way. There is a nice outdoor bar where you can sit and watch the yachts cruise up and down the water way.

You can always take a taxi or uber to sawgrass one of the days but there is nothing to do out there once you are done shopping.

Sawgrass is about 12 miles away from GalleryOne.

I have no idea why tourist like SMM.

Most stores are full of seconds, irregulars and close outs.

Stay near the beach and go to the Galleria.

Much more elegant.

Puls you will receive real customer service, Macys.

Agree the Gallery One is a much nicer area with lots to do.

Sawgrass is about a 45 minute drive from the hotel.

The shopping is far superior and it isn't true that the mall is filled with seconds, irregulars, and closeouts.

I got two pair of Manolo Blahniks at Saks last week.

Tons of good shopping.

Because I live on an island in Canada and have about 5 stores in an 7 hour radius. So ya know…

How much is a taxi to and from SMM you think from the waterfront?

Thanks guys!

I hate shopping and even I love Sawgrass.

A cab is going to cost about $60-$70 each way. You'll need a car.

I don't think you want to be staying anywhere near the middle of sunrise.

lol, by middle I mean 1/4 from port, 3/4 from sawgrass (FLL area). Yeah it's getting close to June, the math teacher brain gets to shut down soon :)
