sjf Posted May 23, 2016 #1 Share Posted May 23, 2016 Has anyone ever done that? We plan to spend a few days in Florida after we come off our cruise in Tampa. We'll then head to the airport for our flight home. Do they charge extra for not dropping the car back where you rent it? I'm wondering if it'd be better to get a taxi from the port to the airport and then collect the car there. Any advice welcome! Thanks.
Capt_BJ Posted May 23, 2016 #2 Share Posted May 23, 2016 there are no rentals at the port I'd just go to the airport (flat fee taxi, $26 I think) to get a car some agencies will run their shuttle to the pier for airport pickups . . .
JohninDC Posted May 23, 2016 #3 Share Posted May 23, 2016 There are rentals within a few blocks of the port - Avis and Hertz if my memory has not faded too much. Enterprise has a location close by and should pick you up at the port. Usually no drop fees for one-way rentals in FLA, but you may not qualify for the cheapest rate - price it out both ways (taxi to TPA or local rental) and then make your decision. Clarea Posted May 23, 2016 #4 Share Posted May 23, 2016 Avis has a location at the Embassy Suites downtown. They have a shuttle, and will pick you up at the port upon request.
