mufc99 Posted May 25, 2016 #1 Share Posted May 25, 2016 So we are cruising out of Fort Lauderdale on a Saturday & return on a Sunday. We want to stay 2 nights pre cruise & 2 nights post cruise. We like the sound of Fort Lauderdale, but would anybody recommend which of the 2 places to stay, before or after? We would be staying in South Beach, so would a thurs/fri night there be a must do, compared with a sun/mon night there? Or would that be the worst time to be there? :-) and would Fort Lauderdale be a better place to be on a thurs/fri night? We are not bothered about the travel to the port from Miami. We are in our 50's BUT young! :-)
Rare Keith1010 Posted May 25, 2016 #2 Share Posted May 25, 2016 Not knowing you and what you like it is really hard to give you are recommendation. I would spend two days in Fort Lauderdale and two days in Miami. Do one pre and the other post cruise. Thursday and Friday night might be more fun in South Beach at night if you plan to be out in the evening and want the party scene but if not than it really doesn't matter. BlueHerons Posted May 25, 2016 #3 Share Posted May 25, 2016 South Beach for Sunday because of some of the fun brunch/pool parties. I would do Sunday Brunch at Nikki Beach and stay all day. South Beach isn't necessarily better on weekends because the events are seven days a week. Ditto with Fort Lauderdale. Monday is notoriously SIN/ITI night (service industry night, in the industry), Thursdays are ladies night and they drink free everywhere (we like Tarpon Bend). If you'd clue us in on what you like, we can give you direction.
mufc99 Posted May 26, 2016 Author #4 Share Posted May 26, 2016 Thanks for the info - we will do Ft L first & South Beach after the cruise! :-) Maybe South Beach hotels might be cheaper sun/mon?
brunello22 Posted May 26, 2016 #5 Share Posted May 26, 2016 Thanks for the info - we will do Ft L first & South Beach after the cruise! :-) Maybe South Beach hotels might be cheaper sun/mon? In general, many hotels offer lower rates Sunday through Thursday, however this really depends on the season. If in our peak winter/spring season, then the rates will be higher, regardless of the day of the week. When are you cruising?
mufc99 Posted May 26, 2016 Author #6 Share Posted May 26, 2016 We are cruising first week in April. Looking from Australia it seems that booking a hotel nearer the time is so much cheaper. Hopefully doing sun/mon in South Beach we could get something a little decent!
