Heartfelttraveler Posted May 27, 2016 #1 Share Posted May 27, 2016 We are planning to take a cab between the airport and cruise terminal (Pan American). Does anyone know the cost? Also, how hard is it to catch a cab back to the airport after the cruise?
greatwhitenorth1 Posted May 27, 2016 #2 Share Posted May 27, 2016 The taxi line is right outside the door after you get your luggage. It is regulated so the fees are fixed per zone your going to. You should pay around 19 for the cab and 1$ per bag to go to the pier. This is for up to 5 people, 2$ per person extra after 5. Same thing when you get off the ship. When you are arriving at the line look for others with luggage tags for X or RC(parked beside the Summit) and ask if they want to share a cab. We found another couple and were both happy to save a few bucks!
alcpa1 Posted May 27, 2016 #3 Share Posted May 27, 2016 SJU cabs are regulated by zones. The fare is about $25 plus $1 per bag. As you exit the baggage claim area find the dispatch booth and you will be directed to the first available cab. Cabs are plentiful at the pier. There will no doubt be a line there too but we've never had to wait more than a few minutes. You can also share rides as sedans and vans are all available. Don't forget....when you return to the airport imediately go to the agriculture inspection station before heading to your airline check in. To add to that very helpful comment...i would capitalize and bold IMMEDIATELY. Don't waste time going to the airline counter first...they will just send you back! (I won't go on a rant as to why this "inspection" is the stupidest procedure that exists and really is a total waste of time...at least for anyone that wanted to break the rules)
Redtravel Posted May 27, 2016 #5 Share Posted May 27, 2016 San Juan has a zone system. The taxi dispatcher at SJU will ask where you are going, hand you a slip with a fare. Pay that plus $1/bag + tip. Figure about $20-25. Going back, cost us $22 + bags + tip. Taxi drivers are often cheats. Before taking a taxi anywhere, ask the price. Also, if you are going directly to or from the ship to airport, try to join up with another couple. It will be the same price for 1-5 people. Anyway, it is better than buying a tyransfer from the ship.
