Trying to figure out our finances for next week. Just our of curiosity, do you have to gamble in the casino with cash or is it charged to your room account?

Bring cash. Casino charges 3% if you advance against your room account. ATM charges $5.99 per transaction to get cash out. The Escape has the largest casino in the fleet (or at least until the Joy comes out).

There is only a 3% fee if you go to the cage and have money added to your players account, purchase chips at the cage or purchase chips at the tables. If you download money from your onboard account to your players account at the slot machine, there is no fee.

There is a fee. It is 3% at the slot machines as well. You are likely thinking of Carnival where there is no fee, but if you just download and cash out your account gets locked.

There certainly is a 3% fee to download at the machine from your onboard account. In fact it shows up on the screen and you acknowledge the fee when you confirm the charge.

Charging to onboard account allows you to use money from the card backing your account without paying cash advance fees to cc company. For every $100 you pull from onboard account it will cost $3 to NCL.

You're an adult, manage your cash/credit your way. Just be sure to stay in your lane while playing. Know your limits and have fun.

I will have some cash and give myself an onboard download limit. Last cruise we found ourselves at casino for fun but I wasn't carrying any cash. A $50 download gave my mother and I a heap of fun on penny machines. I didnt actually mind the $1.50 fee either and I'm pretty stingy about paying those.

Sorry for the mistake. When I was on the Dawn last October there was not a fee (that I remember). I'm sure the fee is a result of too many people abusing the privilege.

Thanks everyone. I was under the impression that cruises were "cashless." My husband was the one who mentioned bringing extra gambling cash - he will enjoy the satisfaction of finding out he was right (LOL).

We always set a daily gambling limit whenever we go to Vegas, so that will not be a problem for us. Of course we'll have our son with us on the cruise so we won't be doing as much gambling as our Vegas trips.
