jwatford Posted June 13, 2016 #1 Share Posted June 13, 2016 I am heading out on an Alaska cruise in 3 weeks and looking for any suggestions on possible restaurants that I could get some amazing lobster at in either Victoria or Skagway? eatdrinkfly Posted June 13, 2016 #2 Share Posted June 13, 2016 Victoria isn't really known for lobster - most lobster served in Western Canada comes from the East Coast. You're better off looking for local shellfish like mussels, oysters, clams, spot prawns, ect.
ColinIllinois Posted June 14, 2016 #3 Share Posted June 14, 2016 You may want to also post this on the Alaska port of call forum. http://boards.cruisecritic.com/forumdisplay.php?f=
cb at sea Posted June 14, 2016 #4 Share Posted June 14, 2016 In Alaska, you want King Crab!
j-9 Posted June 14, 2016 #5 Share Posted June 14, 2016 In Victoria you want salmon, halibut, oysters, crabs, spot prawns. Forget lobster. There is a place called Finest at Sea, that is not too far from where the ships dock, on the way towards fisherman's wharf which has a food cart, but it might not be open late enough. http://www.finestatsea.com. There is fish and chips right down at fisherman so wharf, but not great in my experience. If you want casual, but good, try http://www.redfish-bluefish.com. If you want upscale, and the opportunity to have lobster, http://10acreskitchen.ca/kitchen-menu#menu is very good. Warning, Victoria is expensive... GORDONCHICK Posted June 14, 2016 #6 Share Posted June 14, 2016 Halibut and salmon are what you want in AK. I ate all the halibut I could last year! Crab legs are also popular in AK. Lobster is east coast.

Looking for amazing lobster in that area is like looking for amazing lobster in Nebraska. Try King Crab and save the lobster cravings for when you are home. rockdoctor Posted June 14, 2016 #12 Share Posted June 14, 2016 Lobster is a New England thing. Go on an Eastern Canada cruise for great lobster. In Victoria or Alaska, it's going to be frozen. Give crab or halibut instead.
