We are taking our first back-to-back cruise and were wondering what the procedure is between cruises. Do we have to process through customs and go through embarkation again? Is there a delay before reboarding? Any info is appreciated.

We just did our first in April on the Breeze. We received a letter telling us to be in the dining room at a certain time, 10:00ish. They had drinks and snacks for us. There were 16 of us. They gave us our new s&s cards. I'm trying to remember exactly how that went because they took our old ones then needed them back and then gave us new ones. (Sorry, old brain) anyway, after everyone was off the ship (passengers) they took our group down to where the luggage pick up is. We had our custom forms filled out. There was a custom agent that looked at it and our passport and then we turned around. They swiped our new s&s card (all done on tablets now, no *ding* anymore) and we went back on. They had mimosas waiting for us and took a group photo. Later in the week we got 2 copies. We also received a fruit basket.

There were also crew members that had to do the same thing. We saw our steward have to get off than right back on.

Thanks for this info. We are leaving for our B2B on the 26th.

We did our last B2B in New Orleans. We had a choice- meet in showroom at a specific time, and go through the above process, or leave the ship anytime before C 10am, and return after the ship zeroed out. (you are given "In-Transit" cards). We chose to get off and take our "goodies" to our car. Really easy getting off, and we were sent to Clear Choice customs. Off the ship and on the streets in 45 minutes.

Had a wonderful morning in New Orleans. Returned about 1:30pm. After being chastised for missing our 11:00 am check-in slot, we were sent straight to priority security and check-in. Back on to the Triumph in about 30 minutes. We got the fruit basket & bottle of bubbly in our stateroom on our return.

Very Easy.

When we did it we skipped the meet up time since we were sending our kids (17 and 19) home after the first week. We went off the ship with them helped them get in a taxi, said a prayer and sent them off to the Miami airport. Then we had to wait until the ship zeroed to get back on. Not a big deal, we got to wait in the lounge where all the suite people get to wait, had internet, we knew to bring our laptops off and it wasn't too long before we got back on with the new group. I believe on the way to the lounge we were directed somewhere to get our new card. Very easy process. And we got a fruit basket of fruit we didn't want, but there were some nuts and fruit snacks too, and a bottle of champange.

Did a B2B on the Splendor and we were told to meet at the atrium bar and we had the option of getting of the ship and exploring the City (NY) and were given a special pass to embark again. The other option was that someone would escort us through customs and then back on the ship again. It was great, just follow directions issued by Carnival. ;)

Thanks! We are planning the same type of thing for next summer. Kids with us the first week, then send them home. But ours will be 17, 7, and 4. So we are planning on seeing them all the way to security at the airport. But glad to know getting back on is simple :)

We were just saying how sad it'll be to not hear the ding. Fortunately, in April when we were boarding in Cozumel I recorded the ding as a joke on my dh phone. A little piece of nostalgia.

I missed the ding. The first leg my card would not read on the tablet. I had to go to GS and get a new one. They also checked you in at muster drill using the tablet. They had to call people each cruise. I don't get why people don't just go. It's annoying to all the guests that do and have to wait for them.

You will escorted off thru immigration and right back on before the next cruisers.

Wow. Did someone else not notice they said no more ding when inserting sail and sign cards. Without that ding embarcation wouldn't be official would it?

Haha! I thought the SAME thing! :p

We've been doing B2B only since 2013. We've always had about 80 others doing B2B. When we did a B2B in 2008, there were only about 8 of us.

On our B2B this past January (2016) on Glory, they had a "ding". Have they changed to tablet on all ships or just the newer ones?

It was sort of unsetteling to send them off, but they made it. I over worry. If my kids had been younger, I would have done the same as you and brought them to the airport. It will be a very easy process for you when you get back and the second week is so peaceful. :)

We booked our B2B on the Breeze while on board the Liberty's repo from San Juan PR. to Galveston. We booked the same cabin for both legs. Later, we found out that the cruises must be "linked" together in order to leave all your stuff in the cabin.

Otherwise, they are treated as two separate cruises and you must disembark with everyone else and wait to reboard later.

Our PVP was very gracious and linked them even though she had not originally booked them and received no credit for it.
