Vibe pass if in Haven

Just reading Gambee's review and he stated that a lot of the Vibe passes are taken by the people in the Haven.

I'm trying to figure out why you would need a Vibe pass if you're in the Haven? Isn't the Haven area nice enough. (I'm new to the NEW NCL ships, so I hope this question isn't tooo stupid).:p:o

Depends on when you're sailing and how accepting you are of children. If children playing annoy you (even if not misbehaving), you should get a Vibe pass.

Some adults sail in the Haven and think that because it's expensive and exclusive, that means no kids. Others (not all) with children thinknthatb cause it's expensive, their children are entitled to do "whatever they want because I paid for it."

As long as people realize that ALL the 2 br FAMILY suites on the big ships are Haven cabins and that children should be expected in the Haven, and those of us with children don't let them act like spoiled brats, the Haven should be fine.

Vibe has no pool and the HAVEN ON THE away ships has an upper deck with clamshells and a great view. The kids don't come up to the upper deck as they like the pool. I wouldn't get one. Lots of quiet areas on the upper sundeck

I've also read a few instances where groups sailing together use vibe when some are in the Haven and others not. We're considering this ourselves because not everyone in our group is staying in a Haven cabin.

I was on the same sailing as Gambee. To make sure I got a vibe pass I had my car parked at 9:30 and got in line to be one of the first to board Escape. Immediately I ran to the front desk ( thinking this was where to purchase a pass like on the Getaway). Found out it was across from le Bistro....ran like mad and got in line. As there were about 15 or so people in front of me I thought no problem. A crew member was handing out numbers as there were suppose to be about 70-72 passes for Vibe. My ticket said number 59! How could this be possible I thought. Answer....Haven guests boarded earlier as one of their perks. Having been told there would be children in the Haven, 30 Havenites asked the concierge to reserve passes for them. Now Ncl probably doesn't care who purchases the passes....money is money. But I have an issue with this procedure. Yes Haven passengers should have equal rights in purchasing a pass like the rest of the passengers....but should then do like the rest, get in line. Reserving vibe passes via the concierge should not be a Haven perk. Technically it would be possible for every Vibe slot to be reserved by Haven passengers before everyone else boards. That leaves over 4000 passengers without a chance to purchase a pass. To make matters worst, many of the Haven people that bought passes didn't use them. Well I would like to see a policy where everyone is given a chance to purchase, not have it done for them. With the popularity of the Vibe growing I suspect the charge will double to match the spa weekly cost....perhaps that will Deminish the demand, but give those of us in steerage a chance to run and purchase, not give priority to those with their own decks, restaurants pool and bar. If they want a vibe pass like everyone else, get in line. But this is reflective of NCL, not the passengers. As I am booked on Escape next May, I will plan on being parked at 8am, standing at the door and will run like a chicken with its head cut off to get a Vibe pass....heaven forbid they are all gone. You ask why it is so important....well on this voyage the normal full load is 4200 passengers, we had 5196 passengers....the outside decks were beyond jammed. Without the Vibe, I my trip would have been negatively impacted by the overcrowding. Even h2o was a mob scene. Bless the vibe.

i totally agree with you. I admit that we stay in Haven suites, but the Haven Entitlement Syndrome is out of control. I cannot believe that the concierge would reserve Vibe passes- it is just wrong. Perhaps NCL should grow a pair and start laying down the law with the obnoxious families in the HavEn pool area. Many times I have played "bad cop"- not my job.

Half the occupants of the Haven have gotten their suites at discount as they ain't selling at the ridiculous rates out now- I'm looking at a September sailing where only TWO H4 suites and 2 H9 suites are booked! Upsell will get rid of them at a fraction of the going rate . That should be enough for most, but it won't. Allowing the added benefit of skipping the Vibe line just sticks in my craw. I apologize for ranting, but I read a post a while ago where a mom wanted to know if the butler would stand in line at kid's camp and sign her children in because her husband hates doing that. Your post brought this to my mind. Jumping the Vibe line is simply wrong.

There should be a more equitable system- meaning whomever gets there first gets the pass, not whomever emails the concierge first!

UgH!

I respectfully disagree with the 2 posts above.

The fact that Haven passengers board first means that they have the first opportunity to purchase. If the Haven passengers were to "get in line..." as suggested, those same passengers would still get them first. The only difference is that Haven passengers who go to the Haven lounge first would simply stop by the desk and purchase Vibe passes on the way.

If it is the "unfair" reserving of passes that bothers some, do those same people have a problem with Haven guests making dinner and show reservations first? Haven guests also exit the ship first. Is that "unfair"? Haven guests have their own restaurant...unfair?

Having a butler "wait in line..." is just lazy, imo but I don't see why it would bother anyone other than the butler.

I've never done an upsell but if I did, I wouldn't want to be looked upon any differently because of it. Suite guests have perks given to them by NCL. If the ability to get Vibe passes is one of those perks, I don't see a problem with it just as people who wait for an hour to board shouldn't have a problem with those who are escorted past them.

No matter what, there will always be 4,000 passengers who couldn't get a Vibe pass. Those flying in might see it as "unfair" because those driving in "get there first..." but that's how it is. Haven guests have a concierge to take care of things before the Haven guests arrive. It's no different.

Just to clarify, you cannot email the Concierge in advance to book the Vibe passes. The only emailing is to the pre concierge who cannot do it. But, just to be clear, the Concierge can make the booking before anyone enters the ship. They do it for all Suite/Haven guests that want them while waiting on the pier in the suite waiting area. Same thing for dining reservations. For those that don't like the Suite guests getting any perks, best way to fix it is to book a suite, you too can ensure a pass.

You are correct. The "concierge desk" isn't the same as the concierge. The "desk" basically forwards the message to the personnel on the ship.

Just off the Escape last month. It wasn't a school vacation week and the surprising number of kids did take over the Haven pool area, but there were only a few times they came up to the sun deck or the enclosed upper deck area so it was fine.

The only advantage to vibe over the haven sun deck was the lack of a bar waiter at times while vibe has a bar. One of the sea days we didn't see our usual bar waiter in the haven sun deck yet we know the vibe bar was staffed since we talked to someone's in the haven that snuck in through the door connecting them when a staff member went through and got drinks at the bar.

Personally, I wouldn't have even thought about buying a vibe pass while being in the haven

.

It's a totally different comparison. Restaurants are around every night and you can always chance it and wait without a reservation and have a shot of getting in. Same with the shows, although not every single night. Vibe is a one time shot and if you don't get it, you're out the whole week with no other opportunity.

Vibe lets in such a small number as well, so that also makes the comparison different.

It does seem like double dipping to me to have haven and vibe, but if haven guests want to do it, it's my opinion that they should have to wait in line like everyone else just because of the distinct nature of the space.

I sailed 2 weeks after Gambee, and we got Vibe passes. They did NOT have the numbers in order that they handed out, because there was no reason to. My husband's said like 28, and my number was in the 60's. Actually we were about the 10th people to get the passes, according to the worker. There is no reason for them to put all the numbers back in order. There are 80 passes, so it doesn't matter if they hand them out 1, 2, 3, etc. They are handing out 80 numbers, even if they are handed out #27, 44, 9, etc. That is what they do.

No NCL staff can pre reserve Vibe passes for anyone. Haven, Suites and loyalty get early boarding so that's why they get first try for them. I've been in boarding groups 1 and 2 before and have always gotten them

Well, if the child who sat behind me at today's "Finding Dory" was in the Haven with me I would need VIBE.

I have been dwelling on whether to purchase Vibe passes for months for our August sailing. We are in a Haven H6 (aft) Suite. Have read many posts on Vibe vs no Vibe for Haven guests. Still not sure. I don't want to be greedy and take up the very limited Vibe passes if not necessary by our having access to the Haven amenities. However, I have heard several complaints of unruly children taking over the small Haven pool area. Being an enclosed area it can get very loud. ( I love children, but late August was not unintentionally chosen to sail). Granted I have also heard of and understand some adults can get very obnoxious in the adult only Vibe area. Also something I have considered is being in an Aft H6 you cannot just " stick your head out" to check on the immediate crowd at the pool. Still think the Aft Penthouse is one of the better Haven choices. About the Concierge obtaining the passes, by boarding first Haven guests would still be able to get in line first, which I would have no objection to. Again, I still haven't decided and as I said I don't want to be greedy and take a limited Vibe pass, but also 2 or 3 days into the cruise and the Haven area is running amuck it will be too late. :( Regards Gerry.

Ncl needs to seriously consider a much larger Vibe space. Adults want an area with NO KIDS 24/7 on NCL. vibe never has more than 30 people at a time using the space so let's add another 30 "day only passes" and see how it works out.

It really amuses me how much emphasis some people put on getting Vibe passes. I think if it meant that much to the enjoyment of my holiday I'd be looking at alternative lines and ships.

I really enjoy the buzz of a busy pool deck. People watching. Chatting to different characters at the bar. Seeing kids having fun.

We're all different I suppose.

When I got the Upsell for my July sailing, I called and cancelled my Spa passes. I figured someone else could use them more. I got them mainly to have a quiet space away from the crowds...now with the Haven, I don't need that.

I have sailed DCL multiple times and they have great adult only spaces.

Isn't Spice adult only?

I really do agree with your statement. However this Friday we are meeting/going with the children and grandchildren for a week in the Outer Banks in Nags Head, North Carolina. Love it there. We have a large house there and I plan exactly to do that. Swimming in the pool, playing on the beach with the kiddos and people watching. I prefer in August to do just part of that. :) Regards Gerry

They sell 70-75 passes per sailing. It was pretty full on the 5/22 sailing. I agree that they should make the rest of that upper deck Vibe!
