Vibe pass if in Haven

They sell 70-75 passes per sailing. It was pretty full on the 5/22 sailing. I agree that they should make the rest of that upper deck Vibe!

No financial reason for them to do that as Haven makes them more money per person.

I think part of the beauty of it is that there are so few people. I hope they don't sell any more. We had a blast there on our 5/21 Escape cruise, and there were times it was pretty crowded (no 2 chairs together, etc.) It was really a fun crowd.

I do think that people looking for quiet and relaxation might want to head to the spa instead. Ours was a big party!

Just reading Gambee's review and he stated that a lot of the Vibe passes are taken by the people in the Haven.

I'm trying to figure out why you would need a Vibe pass if you're in the Haven? Isn't the Haven area nice enough. (I'm new to the NEW NCL ships, so I hope this question isn't tooo stupid).:p:o

We had a suite on the Breakaway and bought Vibepasses. Well spent money!

I know that the other ships are different but the reasons why we will buy Vibepasses again if we take another cruise on the Breakaway are:

1. No outside bar in the Haven.

2. Vibe is adults only. We don't mind children if they behave well and their parents look after them, sometimes they don't...

3. Better hottubs in Vibe.

4. The Vibe wasn't as crowded as the pooldeck but it was more crowded than the Haven which was too quite sometimes.

5. We want to be able to use as much as possible of the ship.

There is a lot more space up there besides Havens upper deck. Plenty of room to make more money with a bigger Vibe, although I like it small

We have sailed Ncl for years (platinum) and stayed numerous times in Haven. We first stayed Haven on Pearl back when few families and children stayed in Haven. Sadly we also had a very poor experiences in our last Haven trip a couple of years ago with unsupervised children to the point we avoided what should of been a wonderful perk. Yes we waited a day or so to see if it was a one day problem, and yes we pointed out the behavior to Haven staff but all was wasted because nothing changed except to run out the dozens of kids who crashed the Haven pool daily as outside guest by sneaking past an open door. It only really got resolved when the problem had gotten so bad that Haven guests couldn't find an empty chair to set in.

The crust of the problem is easy and has and is clearly spelled out in numerous comments here about the unruly kids in the Haven. Its simply a problem that belongs to Ncl given they own the results of the experience. This means Ncl needs to find a way to solve the conflicts. Solve the problem of unruled kids in the Haven and you reduce the Haven guests looking to purchase vide passes. Then again maybe that us part of NCLs marketing of vide sales plan. Now that would be sad wouldn't it.? Maybe ncl Haven could see about carving out a kids only area in Haven, or instead carve out an adults only area in Haven. They clearly though must take more responsibility to manage or reduce the problems created by unsupervised children.

I would respectfully suggest that regardless the charge for the rooms I E: some pay $12,000 for a Haven Suite Room or others do luck out and get a Haven Suite room on upsell for a $4,000 plus investment they are all paying top dollar for a complete and unique experience that ncl markets with certain promises. That experience and some of those promises can sadly be broken and impacted by the behavior of others.

Before I get flamed here we have grandchildren which while we adore we expect a certain behavior out in public at restaurants, movies, or staying in the Haven vs what is acceptable on a playground or our own backyard. Sadly not all parents and grandparent agree. Yes we have moved on over the past 2 years and spent our travel dollars with other cruise lines to avoid what we experienced with Ncl. Now after being gone a few years we decided that the end of June it was time to retry ncl Haven on Escape. So while we won't be buying a Vide pass this trip we will instead see how the Hotel Director and the Haven Staff manage the Haven experience. Having said that we may well buy one on a future trip if Ncl simply can't manage its problems if or when they have one.

If the sundeck and hot tub up there on Escape were "adult only", that would be fine since smoking is allowed up there.

Perhaps, during the "introduction" when guests are first escorted into the Haven, the concierge could explain to each guest/family that the Haven is a tranquil place and everyone (including children) is expected to act in a proper fashion (no running, jumping, screaming, etc.).

We were in the Haven, but the Courtyard was totally unusable, as it was taken over by the children of ill-mannered parents. The pool and hot tubs were in constant use by 8 children, playing with a ball and other pool toys, and throwing water balloons. The only place to go to get away from the noise was the forward sun deck on deck 19. I blame the parents in not disciplining the kids. They were forever running around and even taking the elevator dripping wet. I saw a older lady slip and fall due to the water on the flow of the elevator. The concierge tried to control them only on the last evening, when they commenced to water balloons and running up and down the haven stairway.

We did not try to get on early to get vibe tickets, but in hind sight wish we did. They did not sell any daily tickets, and only one day did they offer Thermal spa daily ticket.

Other than the courtyard not being usable, the room, the butler and the restaurant were very much up to par.

NCL will need to address this soon, one way or another.

Hidden away at the top of the ship is The Haven by Norwegian®, home to our most luxurious, well-appointed and spacious accommodations. Not only will you have access to all the ship has to offer, you'll enjoy the personal service of a concierge and 24-hour butler throughout your entire stay. On top of that, complete privacy and tranquility are just steps away on a sundeck reserved exclusively for guests of The Haven

Sounds like some of you are missing out on the "Tranquility" :D

I'm for making all of Haven over 18

And I'm all for that too, but there are no two room cabins for us regular folk. Until NCL has a non-Haven two room cabin, my kid will be going with and will stay in the Haven.

I'm for that too, but to my knowledge NCL doesn't have any two room non-Haven cabins. Until then we'll stay in the Haven with our kid when we can.

The entire point of the Haven was to cater to young affluent families - a demographic that is not served on any other cruise line. Those of us that want (and can afford) the exclusivity of the fancier lines (where children are unwelcome) while also having access to the activities of a fun, family oriented ship are the ones the Haven was made for.

Here is Andy Stuart on the matter:

If you can afford the Haven AND want a completely over 18 experience, go on an upscale ship that no children will be on, or get a Vibe pass. Or realize that you will never truly like a cruise line that caters to families with younger children.

And yes, I control my kids when we are on a ship - Haven or not, and find it amazingly atrocious what some parents allow. But the kids aren't the problem, the parents who allow them to act like hooligans are.

Spot on.

Although sadly by the time we can afford to sail Haven, my kids will be too old to holiday with us.

Lucky I love the rest of NCL [emoji5]

My uncle used to be a golf pro at a country club, and they had "quiet times" for adult swimmers at the pool. It was something like 15 minutes out of every hour (gave the lifeguard a little break, too). Maybe NCL could have a 3PM to 5PM quiet time for over 18 only?

Love it. I am all about meeting the needs of many segments.

Now how about one smoke-free night in the casino? My friend says Royal did this on her cruise.

It depends on the ship.

The upper sundeck on the Escape is ridiculously small for the amount of Haven guests. Even on an off vacation week, the upper deck gets too full. And the Escape does not have a bar up there. If I cruised as a Haven guest again on the Escape there is no question I would reserve in advance the Vibe passes.

But, if cruising on the Epic, as I did last year as a Haven guest, there would be no need to get a separate Vibe pass. The upper sundeck on the Epic is large, probably twice as large as on the Escape AND half as many Haven passengers! In addition, the Epic has a lovely bar on the upper sun deck.

On the Escape you had to wait for a waiter and they had to then run two flights down to the one and only Haven bar to have the drinks made. Its a long process to get a drink on the Escape.

So there's the answer. Depends on the ship. On the Epic, it's not at all necessary. On the Escape, it's necessary.

Of course, Epic doesn't have a Vibe Beach Club. Epic has Posh, which is open to all Haven guests, and passes are also sold to a limited amount of other passengers, much like Vibe.
