Upgrade classic to premium bev packages

Has anyone had any luck getting a free upgrade from a classic beverage package to the premium when traveling solo?

 

I know that logic does not prevail, but the way I look at it, I actually have 2 classic packages by paying the 100% single supplement.

 

Is there any sense asking when I get on board?

And who is the best one to ask?

I too have never heard of anyone doing this, but it never hurts to ask.

 

If you are a Captain's Club member give them a call and ask. If not, just call the regular customer service number. If you booked through a TA you may need to have them ask. Might have more success doing this prior to the cruise.

Interesting thought. Actually if you make friends with a bartender at a frequented bar, you might get an upgraded drink. Doubt if you could convince anyone else to change your marking / classification on your card tho.
