Carnival Sunshine - pool

Does anyone know if the Sunshine has a retractable dome that covers the pool in cooler weather?

Thinking about doing a New England cruise in October....all the photos I have seen show the Adult Only Serenity area and pool open to the elements.

I have done the New England itinerary twice and both those Carnival ships had a dome that covered the main pool.

Just looking for somewhere to hang out for a while durning the day that is not a bar or casino.

No dome. Sunshine has two pools. One is the main lido deck pool open to all passengers. The other is the one you referenced in Serenity, open to adults only. We love the Serenity pool, but it is open-air.

Thanks that's what I thought.

No unfortunately their is not a dome/roof on the either of the Sunshine's pools. Would be a nice addition especially for these Fall cruises out of NYC.

Yes, they do enforce the no children rule in on the Serenity decks. Even if there is not a Carnival employee standing at the stairs watching, you should still have some respect for your fellow cruisers who wish to be away from children on their vacation.

The times we were aboard Sunshine they did not enforce the no children rule. You had to request staff to remove kids . People even had kids sleeping in the mini cabanas ,who's going to bother sleeping kids ? It actually gets packed early with people so if your wanting anything ,get there early.

On our two sailings on the Sunshine we had zero problems with kids in Serenity and it was a school week. Granted spots eighth around the

Serenity pool go early but some traveling with us showed up around noon and found seats. They also were marking chair hog seats and removing stuff after 40 minutes. Saw it with my own two little eyes......

But the pools are small and feels like your in a sardine can.

You are absolutely right. Whatever it is in the Serenity area but it's definitely not a pool. Just a place to stand in the water with tens of other people around you.

Cool off? Yes. Any way to swim? Forgetaboutit!

Lol, actually it is a pool, granted not a big one. Have not "swam" in a cruise ship pool in any of my 35 cruises. Maybe you hit different cruise ships than I do.

Same here, we have cruised many times & have never 'swam' in any of the pools. They are really made to just cool off. On an NCL we've sailed last May the H2O adult only section doesn't even have a pool, it was a 'wetting station' for lack of a better term. Enjoyable just the same as we really do look to just cool off. My concern was the actual enforcement of children in the Serenity area, which has been answered, thank you. We love kids but find it enjoyable to be able to retreat to a quiet area. ; )

Re: kids in the Serenity pool. No, there wasn't much of a problem with that this week, however, there were kids on the Serenity deck. The overall feeling of the ship and passengers (myself included, I guess) was lunatics running the asylum.

I tried to tell that ;)
