Which Rule(s)/Practice(s) would you like to see changed on your Carnival Cruise

I love how so many policy change ideas are based upon preventing other people from annoying the poster on a cruise. Its funny how so many policies would not be needed if everyone realized they are in a confined space with thousands of other people and a little courtesy goes a long way. Oh well as far as my changes:

A) Gift cards can be used to buy anything on the Bon Voyage website including cheers.

B) Go back to the night owls program being open later. Since the kids fall asleep there it really doesnt matter if they are there until 1am (current close time) or 3am (old close time) and since we are fans of late dining, it would definitely make it easier to party on the ship.

These are the rules, you knew about them . And as such should obey them. And yes it is your vacation and you should enjoy it, however it is also the vacation of the other 3000 people on board. And they should be able to enjoy it too. And if your breaking the rules cause any of them from enjoying theirs you are wrong.

Great post, fully agree....while I don't think its a majority, there seems to be a growing minority of the entitlement crowd....the "I want to do what I want to do and its my vacation and I will do what I want with NO consideration for anyone else". I will dress how I want even tho on certain nights I am not supposed to wear jeans. I want to reserve that lounge chair for 6 hrs while I am off doing something else. I don't care if it impacts others, its all about me....sad

Instead of having us continue to sign the Ebola form, change it to a You understand there is no smoking in your room or on your balcony and then enforce the 250.00 cleaning fee or put you off at the next port as stated in the Cruise Contract.

I agree with you about the chair hogging because that does affect someone else's ability to have a comfortable seat. However, I don't see how someone else is dressed affects me.

it doesn't affect you, my point is the mindset....the website clearly states on formal night, no jeans....so if you are aware of the no jeans rule, why would you wear jeans? :confused:

Bring back the past guest party, bring back toiletries in the bathrooms and all ships should have a refrigerator.

I would also concur with no smoking in casinos and also being able to bring bottled water onboard

Found this thread today and read all 16 (mostly entertaining) pages before deciding to comment.

1) on Carnival, the past guest party should return...the new platinum/diamond reception is anything but fun on the funships

2) chair hogs should be ratted out (personally, I enjoy moving their stuff) and I wonder why none of them ever defend their behavior on CC

3) for anyone who's interested, here's an article from 2003 on Paradise giving up the no smoking status

4) I really only sail Holland to Alaska, but a $40 liter of my favorite spirit in my room is better than Cheers on CCL or NCL's 'all inclusive' drink plan...and definitely deters the use of rum runners

I would change the rule that both people over 21 in the cabin have to purchase cheers. And enforce the chair hog rules.

Midwestern, I am with you....I have and will continue to move the chairhogs things. Especially on the Serenity Deck where seats are very limited on many of the ships. I get up early and will make my way up there at around 7 am to get a prime spot. I have seen people drop towels and books on chairs to reserve a lounge chair. I get going to get something to eat and coming back 30 mins later. I have seen some people come back 4 or 5 hrs later!!!! I want to grab these people and truly ask "What are you thinking"!!!! Now, after about 1 hr, i will pick their stuff up and take it over to an attendant and say "i think this passenger forgot their stuff"

I'm not trying to debate your point as I have heard that very same thing - that smokers gamble more. But how is it that Celebrity gets away with having their casinos entirely smoke free and seem to be doing well? One used to be able to argue that their rates were higher to make up for any potential loss, but it seems that Carnival's pricing lately has been pretty close to theirs in many cases.

 

I am truly curious if anyone knows the real answer because I don't.

 

Speaking strictly for myself, as a non-smoker for the past 20 years, I love to gamble but can't tolerate the casino area for long stretches due to the smoke stench. If the casino was smoke-free, this non-smoker would be donating in the casino a lot more!

 

I'm not advocating a non-smoking ship but I do wish that all smoking was outdoors.

Just empower the staff to enforce the rules. A passenger breaks a rule, first time warn them/send them back to get changed if it is a dress code violation, second time - a fine, third time - put them ashore or in the brig if it is the last sea day.

You mean you dont agree with the mindset of "Its my vacation and i should do what i want to do because its about me and my vacation and about me having fun the way i want to have fun....Its my vacation, dont tell me how to dress. I want to dress the way i want to dress. I WANT THAT LOUNGE CHAIR, and i should be able to keep it for as long as i want it even if i am not sitting in it because I want what i want when i want it...."

They do this at many AI resorts. The first time I saw it, we were with a group in Punta Cana. One couple walked up and the guy had on cargo shorts and a henley-type shirt. The hostess said our party could not be seated until all guests had on proper attire. We waited for the change and then our meal was rushed because of other reservations behind us.

At first, he didn't believe they were serious, then he was close to indignant, but by evening's end, he was apologizing

Must have been 3 hrs later and the original people came back, went over to the couple and asked them why they moved their stuff. Obviously the couple had no idea, so i piped in "I moved it, it was 3 hrs ago, the attendant brought your stuff to the lost and found". The guy went to say something then probably realized he didnt have an argument, considering i called him out in front of about 12 people right around us

Here is another vote for not forcing both people to buy the Cheers package. And as a side note, regarding smoking, I have a small handheld battery operated fan that I take with me in the casino. It is not very strong but it does the job of blowing the smoke away from me.
