Question regarding tendering ports in S.A. and non ship excursions.

Looking for direct experience from cruisers who were tendering into ports of South America with a GOLD STATUS and able to get tickets for more than themselves for a non ship excursion.

I know that the ship booked excursions get off first then groups of non ship excursions but I am concerned about having tickets enough for a group of 12 people when several of them have Gold status.

Any feedback is appreciated.

thanks

The ports you have to tender, well the ones we tendered this year on our cruise from Buenos Aires to San Francisco, were; Stanley, Punta Arenas, Puerto Chacabuco, Puerto Montt and Cabo San Lucas.

As we used NCL tours I can't help with the tender process for others but we were always treated very well when tendering.

Is your group of 12 a group traveling together or are they members of Cruise Critic?

If so reach out to the Group Coordinator on the ship and they may be able to assist you. When I have booked private tours in the past I have had some success by utilizing the group coordinator and ended up getting an escort off the ship after the suite guests.

If someone in your group is staying in a suite perhaps they can get some help from the concierge.

Best of luck.

The Group Services Coordinator is the same person that will handle your meet and greet aboard ship. Like Rochelle, I had success in asking for assistance regarding just about anything from the Group Coordinator when I was the Meet and Greet coordinator....she even arranged for iced tea, lemonade, chips and cookies in our stateroom for Canal Day.....and all I asked for was some help to get additional ice and water!

Have a great time, our 'round the horn cruise remains our favorite.

Well so far she's batting a zero when asking for help in acquiring door prizes for the meet & greet.

When you set up the Meet & Greet you will work with a Group Event Coordinator who is basically a land based liaison with the ship. From my personal experience pretty much anything you ask of this person outside of setting up the M & G will be a "No".

The Group Coordinator that I was referring to is an employee on the ship. They most often have other roles on board. On the Getaway this job was handled by the Hotel Directors assistant. They often also act as the Access officer on board as well.

If you are the person who has set up the M & G for your cruise then their should be a letter in your cabin once you board. This will be from the Group Coordinator confirming the set up for the Meet and Greet and will have their contact number for you to reach them on the ship.

I have found that when asking for something on the ship they almost always seem to go out of their way to make things happen. I have never asked for door prizes for the M & G so I could not hazard a guess sif this would be something they would do. In the past if I were having door prizes at a M & G I just supplied them myself. But that is not to say that you cannot ask...you never know what the answer will be until you do. I have had success asking the casino for prizes for the slot pull. These have included wine, champagne, t-shirts and key chains. Another option is to ask for volunteers from the roll call to bring an item to be used as a door prize. All you need is a few people to say yes and you should end up with a nice assortment.

Best of luck with your M & G and your tours.

Thanks for the info on group coordinator.. the ideas for raffles from NCL came from other threads saying they were able to get some.

Yes I am the organizer for the M&G and am already getting some door prizes with a nautical theme.
