Cheers program - is it worth it?

Forgive me if this has been discussed at length elsewhere... I'm getting ready for my first Carnival Cruise Aug 13-20 on the Miracle, and contemplating the Cheers program for boyfriend and me. We both enjoy drinks and but don't want to get bombed either. What is the consensus, is it worth it? What if you go on a lot of shore excursions and spend time away from the ship, is it still worth it?

I see that the program includes specialty coffees, and to be honest, that almost makes it for me right there. Do they have chai tea lattes? (yummm)

It was worth it for us. My husband and I both drink, but don't normally go crazy with it. We definitely got our money's worth. It was nice not to have to think about what we were spending. We had everything pre-paid before we left. We enjoyed alcohol, energy drinks, coffee, and milk shakes. I do believe I saw chai lattes on the menu! I always had a mimosa with brunch, several drinks by the pool, glasses of wine with dinner and dessert, a then drinks at the shows and casino. We broke even for sure.

Depends what you drink and how many of them.

Totally worth it.

They do have Chai Tea Lattes, but they have to bag brew the tea. So they werent the best Ive ever had.

Most drinks were in the 9 dollar range. So only need a few each day to make it value. And if you like high end Whiskey, the Steakhouse has a few in the 40+$ range per drink. So just one of those per day makes it value.

I'm gonna fine out aug 20 on the conquest ,but with the coffee and waters and about 4-5 drinks a day min. I cant see why not

There is a long thread on page 2 or 3 called the definitive cheers program read it ,its well worth it, also there was a post some time ago 2-3 weeks where a lady got it for her husband and they wernt big drinkers but in the end it was well worth it for them (if you can find that post it was very friendly and very mature good luck and enjoy your Vay-Cay they don't come as often as there needed!!!

We were on the Magic in January, for a 7 day (3 port) cruise. We purchased Cheers and it was worth it for us, as I drink Margaritas, Pina Coladas and wine. DH drinks beer, still found it worth it as he'd have 7-8, plus pop was included. I found it was nice to not have a surprise bar bill at the end haha!

We are cruising this November and they have updated the Cheers Program, it is even more worth it now, with all the new additions. Honest Tea, Speciality Coffees, Milkshakes, Gatorade, Energy Drinks, etc.

One thing to be mindful of is that each person over 21 in your cabin must purchase and also you cannot use it at any ports, even Half Moon Cay where you can use you sail and sign card :(

Also if you by in advance of the cruise it's a little cheaper, you can also get it on your second day on the ship so only pay for 6 days at a bit higher rate.

Absolutely! We have found that if we each drink 6-7 drinks a day, it's worth it. That's a Bloody in the morning, a drink with lunch, some wine with dinner, before/after dinner drinks, and something when out by the pool, it's easy to make 6-7 drinks daily. This way we can get top shelf liquor (Grey Goose for me!), lattes before breakfast, spiked milkshakes (or plain ones), sodas, specialty teas (gotta have my Earl Grey) and sparkling water with dinner, too. For us, there's no downside. We've bought it ever since it's been offered and the recent changes have only made it better.

getting cheers is mostly worth it, especially when you think of the drinks you normally get, and want to try top shelf booze in it.

Cheers for me is trying new scotch, and new drinks, and if I don't like them, I toss them away, it's all one price.

I remember that thread. Don't you wish all threads were as mature and kind hearted as that one?!?!?!?

Only you can answer that.

First off...enjoy your cruise. Secondly, I recommend Cheers for many reasons.

Upgrade that margarita to a patron margarita

Try new things...if it's not your thing then move on

It's not about having 15 drinks, it's about passing the break even point. So if you drink Bud Light, you may have to have 9 to break even, but if you like pins coladas, you may need 5 to break even (upgrade on cheers always)

Upgrade that glass of wine at dinner. $5-$12. Why not?

Coffee bar...'nuff said

For me, it's hard to get to 15 but not at all hard to "break even"

In the past, my tab at the end has been $1200...at least $900 in alcohol so$400 is an no-brainier
