marjenn Posted August 3, 2016 #1 Share Posted August 3, 2016 Our upcoming cruise is the first time I will receive any comps from the Carnival casino including $75 in Casino Cash. My question is this: Is the Casino Cash actually cash, chips or what? Thanks
w&k Posted August 3, 2016 #2 Share Posted August 3, 2016 First time hubby got special yellow chips, second time, he got real cash. Does anyone know what the distinction is? Wendy

Boozebabe Posted August 3, 2016 #4 Share Posted August 3, 2016 I have only gotten the yellow chips (they were worth $5 each. Had to dump them in my purse to carry them.) but I mostly play tables. Hubby gets slot credit as he plays mostly slots.
Nic6318 Posted August 3, 2016 #5 Share Posted August 3, 2016 Hi there Those yellow "fun chips", you have to play them. They won't just give you cash. If you win they will give you regular chips that you can cash in.
HawkIVette Posted August 3, 2016 #6 Share Posted August 3, 2016 Hi there Those yellow "fun chips", you have to play them. They won't just give you cash. If you win they will give you regular chips that you can cash in. Not necessarily true. You need to call Carnival Players club and ask them. Different offers give you different "cash". I have gotten Chips before that have to be played like the "yellow chip" described above, but have also gotten actual cash that you can just stick in your pocket and walk away. RWolver672 Posted August 3, 2016 #7 Share Posted August 3, 2016 The one time we got it, it was in cash. If they do give you the yellow chip, just cash it in. We never play tables so a chip would be useless to us.
NCTribeFan Posted August 3, 2016 #8 Share Posted August 3, 2016 I have always just received "casino cash" which, as one would expect, is actually cash. In my current offers, I have one for Casino FunChips for many sailings through 4/30/17. I probably can't go (I'm sailing twice between now and then and can't go during tax season). I asked in one of the other many casino threads if anyone could tell me how many chips they got with this offer but no one responded. Wonder if I received this offer because, since I started taking Premier cruises, I mostly play Roulette. Chips wouldn't be very useful if I were still strictly a slot player. springs741 Posted August 3, 2016 #9 Share Posted August 3, 2016 My understanding has been that premier and ultra (no idea about elite) are cash and other casino offers may be cash or chips depending on the offer. The only way to know for sure is to email the casino.
SkyMaster Posted August 3, 2016 #10 Share Posted August 3, 2016 The lovely, and talented Mrs. Jones plays nothing but the slots, and has always received good ol' CASH. I don't know if that makes a difference, or not? "SKY"
marjenn Posted August 3, 2016 Author #11 Share Posted August 3, 2016 Thanks for all the replies! Looks like it could be either "Fun Chips" or cash. Of course since I play Craps almost exclusively it won't matter if it's chips or cash I can play with either one.:)
Davey Wavey Posted August 3, 2016 #12 Share Posted August 3, 2016 Every casino offer I have seen specifically says "casino cash" or "fun chips." Casino cash is real cash. Fun chips are yellow chips you have to bet at a table game. Wins with fun chips are paid with regular chips that can then be cashed at the cashier. marjenn Posted August 3, 2016 Author #13 Share Posted August 3, 2016 Thanks Davey Wavey, so since they said it would be $75 in Casino Cash it would be cash then.
dulcimergirl Posted August 3, 2016 #14 Share Posted August 3, 2016 I've received casino cash many times. It is always cash, in fact, I've never seen yellow chips..
kublaieod Posted August 3, 2016 #15 Share Posted August 3, 2016 If you offer says fun chips then they are just chips. When they say casino cash it is just that. You go to the cashier, they look you up on a roster and you sign for the green. Premier/Ultra are always cash from my knowledge. The Carnival Select offers they have can have "fun chips" which are promo chips.
NCTribeFan Posted August 3, 2016 #16 Share Posted August 3, 2016 I also get a small amount of cash on non-Premier sailings (only between $25 and $75). Obviously I'm not a high roller. I first booked under a "regular" casino rate back in 2012. After that, I started receiving Premier offers (despite what has been posted in Premier threads, I've never, ever gotten close to 7,500 points in a 12-mo period that some have said is what triggers the Premier offers). But no matter what my gambling levels, I've never received a bounce-back nor a Pack-n-Play. And my Premier offers are ALWAYS PC4 which is a slightly reduced fare and $300 casino cash. On 10/30, I'm going on my 4th Premier in just under 24 months. Suddenly, I receive a FunChips offer (rate code PTF). I'd never seen it before, never read about it here, and have never seen anyone using these chips at the Roulette wheel. Offer states "To redeem the FunPlay Chips offer, the named VIFP Club® member must bring the original mail piece to the casino cashier’s desk on board." Maybe I'll receive something in the mail (I do with the Premier offers, usually a couple of weeks after they show up online) that will tell me how many chips I would receive should I decide to book under that fare. I can't book on; I'm just curious as to the "value" of the chips.
