Princess bus transfer Anchorage to Whittier question

We're flying into Anchorage a day before our Island Princess Southbound cruise and we have transfers thru Princess from Anchorage City Center to Whittier. Our travel documents say to check in by 11 am with our luggage and that buses begin departing at noon but the documents don't really say when the last transfer leaves. If we check in at 11, can we leave our luggage and come back 3 or 4 hours later to get on a bus?

Thanks for any info you can provide.

It takes about an hour drive to the tunnel, and the tunnel TO whittier only opens on the half hour. A bus leaving at noon will get you to Whittier around 1:30.

If you want to spend more time in Anchorage, and Princess can't provide an answer or the schedule you want, why not drop their transfer and take an independent shuttle? ie this company picks up between 2pm and 3pm.

Not sure of current costs, but Princess has been more costly than some other transfers.

Being you are only coming in the day prior, wouldn't you at least want to take advantage of your short time?

Several options to consider, a highlight, even though, costly- but it gives you a WH OLE lot more touring- is to rent a one way car, plenty of stops and sightseeing along the way. Getting through the 5:30p tunnel is just fine to board your ship.

There are Prince William sound boat tours, that I frequently do. Just a spectacular glacier scenic day. Some independent transfers offer touring with their shuttle, usually the Wildlife Conservatory. Or just taking a direct shuttle is a very good value.

Princess buses load and go, All you have to do, when you get there is ask, how late they run. The will have you meet by the Egan Center, right downtown Anchorage.
