summer slope Posted August 9, 2016 #4 Share Posted August 9, 2016 More rain. Remind me to never take an Alaskan cruise in August.
SJSULIBRARIAN Posted August 9, 2016 #5 Share Posted August 9, 2016 (edited) More rain. Remind me to never take an Alaskan cruise in August. Unfortunately, there has been rain in every month so far this summer season. Edited August 9, 2016 by SJSULIBRARIAN
Rare Scrapnana Posted August 9, 2016 #6 Share Posted August 9, 2016 The temperatures and rain have been about the same since May. I wish I had kept track but I don't think there have been more than 10-15 sunny days total!
Vsquared Posted August 9, 2016 #7 Share Posted August 9, 2016 I'm hoping for a dry September as my mom, sister and I will be on Amsterdam for her last Alaska cruise this season. We'll be in Juneau on Sept 20th. I've been watching the webcam each Tuesday when I remember to, of course, since we made our reservations and always enjoy seeing our ship come in. We've not been on a ship this small, and are looking forward to trying her on for size. Later... Vicki
Rare Vict0riann Posted August 9, 2016 #8 Share Posted August 9, 2016 (edited) I'm not sure I will be here. Home inspection was last night, we should hear sometime soon if we passed, and conditions should come off on the sale of our house tomorrow, all being well. My cousin, who had been ailing, is now in hospice, so I'm trying to spend as much time with him as I can. There aren't enough hours in the day! I need a cruise. At least I have 44 days on Prinsendam to look forward to. :) I started 3 roll calls for that, and that is taking time, too. 7:15 a.m. in Juneau and already two ships are docked! A foggy morning. Here it's rainy, too. Edited August 9, 2016 by Vict0riann

SJSULIBRARIAN Posted August 9, 2016 #10 Share Posted August 9, 2016 Will we even be able to see the Amsterdam through the raindrops?
Happily@Sea Posted August 9, 2016 #11 Share Posted August 9, 2016 Will we even be able to see the Amsterdam through the raindrops? She will be closest to the camera, darn raindrops. Arriving and seeing is iffy.
Rare Scrapnana Posted August 9, 2016 #12 Share Posted August 9, 2016 Looks like the rain has stopped, at least for now. Just a few lingering drops on the webcam so viewing is not too bad provided we get a person at the controls who will stop the panning and give us some zooms.:)
Sequim88 Posted August 9, 2016 #13 Share Posted August 9, 2016 Just about to enter the channel. 17 kts 8.27 nautical miles to Juneau so should be in view in 1/2 an hour or so depending on how much they slow down in the channel.
SJSULIBRARIAN Posted August 9, 2016 #14 Share Posted August 9, 2016 Looks like Amsterdam at Thane - shouldn't be long now-wish the camera operator would stop the panning.

Rare Scrapnana Posted August 9, 2016 #20 Share Posted August 9, 2016 (edited) Kathi, While patiently waiting for the Amsterdam to arrive, I have been reading you World Voyage blog. Very exciting and I am enjoying it. Barbara Thanks! I wasn't sure I would like writing one even though I always kept a travel diary in the past. Turns out I got hooked and do one for every cruise. I also put much more information in the blog than I ever put in my travel diaries. Edited August 9, 2016 by Scrapnana

Sequim88 Posted August 9, 2016 #22 Share Posted August 9, 2016 Won't jinx it by saying the "R" word but the lens seems to be nice an clear now. Seems a little later than usual. Usually docked by 1:30 PDT (12:30 local) and it is 1:41 PDT now and not even at the dock - let alone tied and gangway ready.

Sequim88 Posted August 9, 2016 #24 Share Posted August 9, 2016 Darned - must have jinxed it - the drops are back on the lens. Sorry folks. :o
SJSULIBRARIAN Posted August 9, 2016 #25 Share Posted August 9, 2016 Camera operator must be at lunch since no zoom and not cleaning the lens - ha ha. Well, that's all for me - I hope I can stay awake until departure as I would like to see one for a change but I am an early bird person so probably not.
