Ballater Posted August 19, 2016 #1 Share Posted August 19, 2016 On a recent voyage, a discussion about medical marijuana came up. Does anyone know Cunard's guidelines about its use on their ships?
BlueRiband Posted August 19, 2016 #2 Share Posted August 19, 2016 Cunard doesn't specifically mention medical marijuana, but address medications here. Regardless of the legality in some parts of the US it's a banned substance in most of the ports that Cunard visits. One risks arrest ashore - and the smell is pretty distinctive and penetrating. This thread from 2014 may be of interest.

Underwatr Posted August 19, 2016 #4 Share Posted August 19, 2016 The US DEA still lists marijuana as a Schedule I drug, the same as heroin and LSD, even though that denotes a drug with "no currently accepted medical use and a high potential for abuse." Regardless of the benefit you might get I wouldn't attempt to take it on any trip out of the country, including a cruise.
chengkp75 Posted August 19, 2016 #5 Share Posted August 19, 2016 Since Cunard's ships are flagged in Bermuda, their laws apply, and marijuana is illegal in Bermuda.
SPacificbound Posted August 20, 2016 #6 Share Posted August 20, 2016 If traveling by air to or from the cruise the drug dogs will likely detect it.
Salacia Posted August 20, 2016 #7 Share Posted August 20, 2016 Sounds a great cure for sea sickness! Sure is...it can get you thrown off the ship! - Or worse, locked up in a foreign port with crazy fines/prison terms.
