SabreSailor Posted August 21, 2016 #1 Share Posted August 21, 2016 My experience in the past for staterooms below Neptune was that if you gave your laundry/dry cleaning to your steward before 9am, it came back the following afternoon. On a Caribbean cruise last year on the Eurodam in a Neptune stateroom (complimentary laundry/dry cleaning), we got it back consistently the same day. Is this standard practice? Thanks! Generally speaking, yes. The first day you usually wait until the next day because of a lot of laundry left (and you do leave it at night). On our cruise this year as well as other years, 95% of the laundry was returned same day (including dry cleaning) if we put it out the night before or that morning when they did housekeeping. I think technically they say to allow 48 hours and before close off, it can vary but we have found very good service on our laundry/drycleaing when we had a Neptune Suite. I suspect there is some priority given, but I don't know for sure. Edited August 21, 2016 by kazu
seagarsmoker Posted August 21, 2016 #3 Share Posted August 21, 2016 We've stayed in Neptune suites several times and it's 50/50 for us either same day or next day. Usually always within 24 - 30 hours.
OlsSalt Posted August 21, 2016 #4 Share Posted August 21, 2016 We got spoiled by same day turnaround in the Neptune Suites too - can't remember if the dry cleaning came back as promptly. In regular cabins we always plan on a two-day turn around and usually get it the next day, and sometimes even same day. But we don't expect it. Plan at worst, a two-day turn around. Rare Crew News Posted August 21, 2016 #5 Share Posted August 21, 2016 Our experience is that laundry turned in (placed on your bed when you go to dinner) is returned before noon the next day. Laundry turned in during the morning room cleaning is returned the same evening. On the Oosterdam last year, we got laundry back in five hours. Amazing!! Never had laundry take 48 hours and think this is just a time limit for worst case issues. Every ship is different.
Rare visagrunt Posted August 21, 2016 #6 Share Posted August 21, 2016 If we are travelling to join the cruise, I will typically have a bag on embarkation day which typically gets collected at turndown. I've never failed to get that back by the afternoon of the next day. I usually send my kilt out to be dry cleaned and pressed at embarkation as well, but I always hand that to the room stewards and not express service so that I have it for Gala night. That usually the only time I use the dry cleaning service, so I don't have any experience with the usual turnaround time.
bphman Posted August 21, 2016 #7 Share Posted August 21, 2016 We got our laundry back the same day as well. I always told the steward that we had a bag in the cabin when we went for breakfast so we did get it in early.
Rare POA1 Posted August 21, 2016 #8 Share Posted August 21, 2016 If you are up early enough, same day is the norm. If you don't have your laundry ready by 8-9, it's more often the next day.
Rare Copper10-8 Posted August 21, 2016 #9 Share Posted August 21, 2016 Got it back folded and/or on hangers the same day on Veendam in early July. Worked like a charm!:)
just_cruising_along Posted August 22, 2016 #10 Share Posted August 22, 2016 Turning in your laundry before 9 a.m., usually means you get it back that afternoon or early evening.
Krazy Kruizers Posted August 23, 2016 #11 Share Posted August 23, 2016 We stay either in the PS or Neptune Suite. Laundry goes out shortly after 8 AM. Most of the time we get it back the following afternoon. Rarely do we get it back on the same day.

We hand off 2-3 days worth of clothes (tux, sport coat, slacks) for pressing as soon as we unpack, and they're back the next morning. During the cruise, I have dry cleaning and laundry ready by 9 a.m. and often get it back that afternoon or evening, but no later than the next morning. TurtleDriver Posted August 24, 2016 #13 Share Posted August 24, 2016 On our recent K'dam sail we left the laundry between 8 and 9 am when we went to breakfast and it was always back by the end of the day (3 times).
OlsSalt Posted August 24, 2016 #14 Share Posted August 24, 2016 We had 1-2 day turn arounds in a non-Neptune cabin on the Zuiderdam. We planned accordingly and were supremely pleased when it was under 2 days.
Gr8daze Posted August 24, 2016 #15 Share Posted August 24, 2016 We stayed in a Neptune in April and we always waited 2 days for return of laundry. This was a 24 day cruise and we never got it back the same day or even in 24 hours.
blizzardboy Posted August 24, 2016 #16 Share Posted August 24, 2016 The longest we've ever waited if in by 9 a.m. was the next day.
