Clarea Posted August 26, 2016 #76 Share Posted August 26, 2016 Someone can correct me if I'm wrong but those were all suites I'm pretty sure. :) Yes, deck 10 on Sovereign class are all JS and better.
oneputt18 Posted August 26, 2016 #77 Share Posted August 26, 2016 Love the Majesty and the many fun three and four night cruises on her. Also sailed Empress and Monarch, we also sailed the last east coast cruise for Celebrity Century. jules815 Posted August 26, 2016 #78 Share Posted August 26, 2016 For me, it's not the ship size that's the problem, it's the cruise length. B/c we have to fly, we no longer take any cruises shorter than 7 nights. I agree.
sandebeach Posted August 26, 2016 #79 Share Posted August 26, 2016 My husband has also become a little bit of a snob. He is bored with Caribbean cruises, and he would rather stay home and play golf at his club with his golf group (he is retired). Two years ago he told me, no more cruises unless it was "new ship or new itinerary". So I said "OK, will do" and I have been booking "new ships" (ships that are brand new or are just new to us) or "new itineraries" and we are now booked through next summer! :)
Rare LMaxwell Posted August 27, 2016 #80 Share Posted August 27, 2016 Freeport and Nassau don't move my needle the right way. Majesty is A-OK for a quick getaway, but I could see how someone wowed by Voyager/Freedom/Oasis class would be disappointed. I'm a sucker for a great deal, but if he doesn't like a classic ship experience without the razzle dazzle, maybe it's not a good fit?
Rare LMaxwell Posted August 27, 2016 #81 Share Posted August 27, 2016 Here is Royal's first ship, the Song of Norway...weighing in at 22945 gross tons. Beautiful ship. But Gross Tons has nothing to do with weight. It has to do with enclosed volumetric space. So the Majesty has slightly over 3X the enclosed space of Song of Norway. Oasis has roughly 10X the enclosed space, by volume, as Song of Norway. Fun fact; for measurement of Gross Tonnage Central Park and the Boardwalk on Oasis class "don't exist" since they are open air decks.

I shouldn't have used the word "weigh." My point was more for comparisons sake, to show that Majesty is by no means tiny. Thanks for the info. But if someone likes things like Solarium, Royal Promenade, selection of specialty dining, balcony rooms, etc. I can see where a 5 day cruise to freeport, and nassau would not cut it. I liked my experience on Majesty, but 4 or 5 days is probably the limit of what I'd want to spend on that ship anyways.

mooseman52b Posted August 27, 2016 #85 Share Posted August 27, 2016 For me, it's not the ship size that's the problem, it's the cruise length. Really, no one made a joke about this? Where are the comedians?:p Giving it a shot.......Longer ain't stronger, the worth is in the girth :p As far as the OP's original question- being a DH (most of the time ) the main reason I like to go on cruises to spend time with Nancy. The ship and places we visit are the nice background music. If I have the time off and it's in our budget I will sail on the smaller cruise ships up to the Oasis class and have a great time. oldmom Posted August 27, 2016 Author #86 Share Posted August 27, 2016 WOW-thanks for all the responses- I finally broke down - and told my husband what I had posted-and got 82 responses to! His comment-" I am sure they all agreed with me!" LOL, after 26 years of marriage, still love him- to death do we part-but he thinks he is always right! I LOVE to travel-and this is the first time he has ever said " I don't want to, honey"-so-will sit this one out-(we are doing Freedom in December-he did well in the casino, again ,on Oasis in May- and he always gives me his winnings to spend)- so I think I will save up for a "better ship" cruise , since he has moved up in the cruise ship world and has higher standards- quess I am lucky he does not insist we get a suite-we always get a balcony- Just thought it was funny that he turned down a cheap cruise!!Thanks everyone-Happy Sailings-Melinda-:p

Hearthosesteeldrumsplayin Posted August 27, 2016 #90 Share Posted August 27, 2016 My spouse works long, hard hours, so he wants to really relax when we cruise. We were spoiled a few years ago when we had to change a 2 week RCCL cruise tour into a 7 day cruise....so the TA put us on NCL in the Haven. What an experience! We were truly spoiled! We are booked on Majesty in Nov. for his birthday...our first short duration cruise. We are in a suite, but even the suites are small compared to the Haven, so I'm not sure how happy he'll be with it. After our NCL experience, this is the test for RCCL. We already have another cruise in April with RCCL in a suite, but if this one is a disappointment, we will be changing back to NCL.
ilovetotravel1977 Posted August 27, 2016 #91 Share Posted August 27, 2016 I hope you are in a suite...did you see the size of the interior (114 sq ft), OV (120 sq.ft.) and Sup OV ( 155 sq. ft.)....the only balcony cabins are the suites! YIKES! The Majesty was my first cruise, back in 2007! 3 ladies shared one of those 114 sq ft cabins. The bathroom was for a toddler-sized person to say the least LOL We went to Key West for one of our ports, loved that one!
maryjaden Posted August 27, 2016 #92 Share Posted August 27, 2016 The last cruise my husband joined me on, I surprised him with a GS. He doesn't like to cruise as much as I do. He told me if he has to come on a cruise, he wants the same type of cabin. He has become a snob also, but I can certainly live with that!
TigerLady Posted August 28, 2016 #93 Share Posted August 28, 2016 Has anyone here had their spouse turn into a cruise ship snob? Saw the 5 day cruise in Jan. 2018 on Majesty for a great price! We even live about 4-4 1/2 hours away from Port canaveral-so short drive. We just got off Oasis in May ( our second time) we are going in December 2016 on Freedom (my third time-his second). We have mainly done Voyager type years ago -and the Freedom classes , Oasis classes in the last 10-12 years-except for a short Bahamas cruise-Sovereign-maybe 6-7 years ago. He thinks the Majesty would " be a let down after Oasis! I agree that the ship can not compare to the larger ships- but it is still a cruise ! Anyone else had this problem after going on "nicer ship" cruises:(. Leave him at home, and enjoy it on your own or take a friend.. A cruise is a cruise, and Majesty isn't a bad ship..
