Arcadia missed Tallinn?

Hi

Just returned from this cruise.

Yes we missed Tallinn. We were about to leave St Petersburg at about 5pm but the captain announced that the weather was deteriorating. Ships can only leave the harbour if winds are below 25 knots per hour. We were forecasted winds of between 40 and 50 knots per hour. The captain said he would monitor the situation but we would have to leave the port before midnight as the port would then close.

We were not able to leave until 9 am the next morning when the port re-opened so missed our slot in Tallinn so have to cruise slowly to Stockholm.

Disappointing but even in harbour overnight the sea was quite rough!!

Did P&O reimburse port taxes/fees for your missed call at Tallinn that you have paid for in your cruise price. We recently missed 2 ports on our cruise with Princess and much to our surprise we were informed by letter to the stateroom that we would be reimbursed port taxes/fees for missed calls and it would be applied to our onboard account and it was refundable so if we didnt spend it that we would have it refunded by cheque after the cruise. Have had issues with P&O because they do not reimburse port taxes/fees and instead keep that money as putre profit. P&O have even said they dont charge cruisers port taxes/fees they pay for them out of their own pocket :confused::confused:

Cruise insurance will pay out if a port missed though bad weather, plus they might have had to pay extra port fees while stuck in st Petersburg?

Can not believe someone would expect P&O to payout for something out of their control....I want compo that's all people want these days..

No compensation offered (or expected as far as I was concerned), Last year we missed Monte Carlo because bad weather prevented tender transfer. Yet again, no compensation offered (or expected).

We live on the Isle of Wight where the sea dictates......it took King Canute a while to realise that.

We had £100 pp compensation when engine problems on Arcadia delayed our departure from New Orleans for 24 hours therefore having to miss the next port of Key West. When we missed stopping in Jamaica because of bad weather there was no compensation. P&O will compensate passengers if they miss a port due to something wrong with the ship but not for bad weather as they have no control over that. Seems right to me.

Sounds reasonable
