sunscreen Posted September 9, 2016 #1 Share Posted September 9, 2016 Staying at the Hyatt Convention center in Ft Lauderdale. Any recommendations for retail therapy nearby? Looking for nice mall with stores like Walmart, Target, etc Or even closet Walmart. Also, anyone take the trolley or transit to these locations as we wont have a car. Any feedback appreciated. fishywood Posted September 9, 2016 #2 Share Posted September 9, 2016 (edited) The Sun Trolley beach link route will take you directly from your hotel to the Galleria Mall. Or you can change to the Las Olas link route at A1A & Las Olas for the shops along that street. But if your idea of a "nice mall" encompasses Walmart or Target (of which there are none in the Downtown Ft Lauderdale area) the above may be a bit out of your price range. There is a Ross and a Dollar Tree a couple blocks away from your hotel across SE 17 St, plus one or two touristy knick-knack places in the Harbor Shops right next door. A good walk around 17 St may just be the therapy you are looking for. Edited September 9, 2016 by fishywood

brunello22 Posted September 9, 2016 #4 Share Posted September 9, 2016 (edited) Fishywood's suggestion for Galleria Mall is a good one. Upscale stores ... Macy's, Dillard's, Neiman Marcus, etc.. Coral Ridge Mall has Target, Ross, Mashall's, TJ Maxx, Old Navy, Rack Room Shoes, a nail salon, some specialty kiosks, etc., but it is approximately 15 minutes north of your hotel location, and it is not accessible by the Sun Trolley. A taxi, Uber, or public bus straight north on US1 (Federal Hwy) would be the means of transportation (Oakland Park Blvd & Federal Hwy). shipgeeks Posted September 9, 2016 #5 Share Posted September 9, 2016 As mentioned above, 17th St., close to the hotel, has a big Dollar Tree, Walgreens, Ross, Winn Dixie, and a bunch of small stores with things like beach hats and sarongs. We usually do a stroll to get sunscreen, mouthwash, and other things we don't want to carry on our flight. FYI, you are also within walking distance of the bridge which gives a good view of the port. It's fun to see the ships in port the day before, and the day of a cruise.
Ashland Posted September 9, 2016 #6 Share Posted September 9, 2016 There's a TJ Maxx in the Harbor Shopping center right between Publix Market and Total Wine...in addition to the above recommendations.
