Do you realize that is a 3 or 4 hour drive, depending on if you use the toll road or not?

 

Many threads here on renting a car for this drive. It is what we are doing in March.

If you are cruising from Port Everglades you are much better off flying into FLL, with MIA and West Palm as other reasonably close options.

 

As mentioned above, it is a 3-4 hour drive (or a very short flight) from Orlando to FLL. While there are bus and train options, you should listen to Bruce's advice and look at renting a car one-way - it is an easy, mostly highway drive.

I am planning on driving to FLL from MCO. We are visiting family first. I was wondering about the bus, because one time Celebrity chartered a bus for passengers from the RI, and MA are and took us to Bayonne. That was a few years ago, and was not sure if cruiselines still do that.

No, RCCL made a few changes with our local port in Port Canaveral. They only provide transportation for Majesty of the Seas going out locally. You are in charge of booking your own transportation from MCO if not sailing out of Port Canaveral. :)
