littlefishes Posted September 14, 2016 #1 Share Posted September 14, 2016 Hi I've been wondering if it's possible to give the fancy evening a miss, are there alternative places to eat on those evenings without dressing up? Thanks
TrqoisWtrs Posted September 14, 2016 #2 Share Posted September 14, 2016 Yes, plenty of places to eat - Lido buffet, pizza, deli, 24 hour ice cream. :)
riffatsea Posted September 14, 2016 #3 Share Posted September 14, 2016 Hi, Yes of course there are other places to eat but you may be surprised to learn that the "fancy evening" is not really so fancy!! IF you are a man the most required is slacks and a shirt with buttons. That's all! IF you are a woman then any nice pants and a nice top will do. You can wear a dress or skirt also but it need not be a fancy one!
cruzeluver Posted September 14, 2016 #4 Share Posted September 14, 2016 (edited) I do not now if you have read what the requirements for Carnival's elegant nights are, but they are pretty basic stuff. Nothing even approaching formal, semi-formal or even business-wear. The requirements for the "fancy evenings" are hardly fancy (pants and a shirt with a collar? whoa! too fancy for me!), but yes, there are always options outside of the main dining room where those fancy requirements kick in. I mean, more suits and a lot of tuxs. I don't know if because it was and 8 day cruise or what.:) I know it is rare but, I almost felt under dressed!lol
littlefishes Posted September 14, 2016 Author #6 Share Posted September 14, 2016 Thanks to everyone for coming back so quickly. I feel much happier now. Really looking forward to the cruise.
BallFour4 Posted September 14, 2016 #7 Share Posted September 14, 2016 Fancy means wear pants. I haven't seen more than a tux or two on Carnival in a decade. Don't miss the MDR if you're worried about attire. Sent from my iPhone using Forums
Herfnerd Posted September 14, 2016 #8 Share Posted September 14, 2016 Elegant Nights aren't as "elegant" as you may think they are.

adam3313 Posted September 14, 2016 #10 Share Posted September 14, 2016 You may not even need long pants! I just got off the Dream on Sunday, and at both "elegant" nights, I saw multiple people breaking the dress code. A guy sitting next to us had basketball shorts, a t-shirt, flip-flops, and a hat on, basically breaking every part of the code! How they got away with it, I'm not sure, but they don't seem to care. Although, they will turn you away at the steakhouse for having shorts on.
rjrpar Posted September 14, 2016 #11 Share Posted September 14, 2016 Enjoy your cruise and remember, the dress code is very informal. People in tuxes on Most cruise lines are clinging to the past. Sent from my iPhone using Forums
coevan Posted September 14, 2016 #12 Share Posted September 14, 2016 On our Dream elegant night guests in shorts were asked to go back to their cabin and put on long pants. Every other night nice shorts and a golf or hawaiian shirt would be fine.

simplelife Posted September 15, 2016 #15 Share Posted September 15, 2016 On most Carnival ships today, "dressed up" for men means khaki shorts and polo or Hawaiian shirt on most nights, and long pants .on "elegant" nights Sent from my iPad using Forums
